1925-2001. Grant died peacefully June 4, 2001 at 3:30 a.m. PST while on vacation in Oregon. Loving husband to Prapim (Pim) Gasorn of twenty-seven years. Father to Gilda, Sonja (Jim Langston), Bruce (Marjanne Troost), Norman, Vivian (Pierre Pelletier) and Sylvia (Nicola Picciani). His first wife Addy Langhorst-Meyer, of Brossard of twenty-eight years also mourns his passing as do his many grandchildren who are saddened today; Tara and Brianna Langston, Stephanie and Ryan Meyer, Kerri and Kyle Pelletier, Michael, Paolo, Victor, Karina, and Katya Picciani, Monika Meyer, and William Meyer. Also mourned and missed by his stepson Guy (Carole Wilson and their children, Ashley and Andrea), his stepdaughter Koontalee (Kay) (Dale Stewart and their children Jay, Cody and Mike). Will also be remembered and missed by his many life-long friends and associates of Consolidated-Bathurst (Abitibi-Consolidated Inc.) where he worked 1951-1989. On Friday, June 1, 2001 in his sixty-eighth year, at the Royal Victoria Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He leaves his loving wife, Christina Coleman (nee MacDonald) and his devoted daughter, Tara and her companion, Andy Neilson. He also leaves four sisters: Eleonore and husband, Jan Haughom of Denver, Colorado; Josee and her husband Murry McCallagh of Los Angeles; Danielle and companion, Gustave Meunier of Toronto; Nicole Wanner (Ram) and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the entire staff of the Palliative Care Unit (3R) of the Royal Victoria Hospital. A private memorial service will take place at a later date for close family and friends. It is with much sadness that the family of Howard R. Campbell announce his passing on Monday, June 4, 2001, at the age of 91. He was the son of James and Nettie Campbell of Canfield, Ontario and brother of the late Nellie Charlton (John) of Paris, Ontario. Howie was the beloved husband of the late Edythe F. Campbell (McFarlane) and dearest father of Barbara Millar (late J. Ross Millar) of Ottawa, and of Jim Campbell (Linda) of Toronto. Loving grandfather to James (Maribeth) of Boston, David (Claire), and Pam of Ottawa, and of Catherine (Scot), Christine (Kent), and Sandra of Toronto. As the result of a skiing accident at Tuckerman's Ravine, New Hampshire on June 3, 2001. Hilary's sparkling smile and zest for life will be missed by all. Died peacefully at Almonte on Monday, June 4, 2001 in his 81st year. George was born in Star City, Saskatchewan, son of the late James Parnell Johnson, a Vice President of Canadian National Railways (Castlebar, Quebec) and Blanche Mary Smith (Almonte and North Bay, Ontario). George was predeceased by his dearly loved wife Mary Katherine Kingston (Ferry Road, New Brunswick) and is survived by their children Mae Blanche Burke and her children Sarah and Harry of Oakville, Ontario, Alice Elizabeth Paige (Ian) and their children Emily and Daniel of Pakenham, Ontario, George Manning Johnson (Jane) and their children Hannah and Maggie of Kanata, Ontario, Anne Katherine Cheslock (Donnie) and their son Michael of Waba, Ontario, Norma Sophia More (Ken) and their sons Andrew and Matthew of Wellington, Ontario. George is survived by his dear and much loved wife Joanne Faith Farrington-Newton and her children Thomas (Linda) of Christchurch, New Zealand, Joanne (Bill) of Ottawa, Ontario, Susanne (Paul) of Wellington, New Zealand, Timothy (Agnieszka) of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Rosemary (Ted) of Green Lane, Pennsylvania, and by his stepgrandchildren Hilary, Kelly, Masha, James and Alexandra. George was predeceased by his dear sister Mae Blanche and is survived by his cherished sister Elizabeth Ann Dignan (Windsor, Ontario) and her family of John, James, Michael, Paul, Mary Theresa and Constance. A veteran of World War II, George served in Northwest Europe in the Royal Canadian Artillery. He was an Observer in the Second Canadian Survey Regiment. George worked in the construction industry for over forty years, rising to the Presidency of M. Sullivan and Sons, Arnprior. In the industry, he was known for his integrity and it was well known that his word was his bond. He devoted himself to ensuring the security of Ontario's workers and their families as a founding member of the Provincial Council of Carpenters Welfare and Pension Fund. He continued to serve as a Council Trustee for thirty years. In recent years, George offered his expertise to public boards and oversaw construction of the Renfrew County Administration Building, Pembroke, and the buildings of the Family and Children's Services and the YMCA, Brockville. George served the town of Arnprior first as Councillor, then Mayor. He was the driving force behind the building of the Arnprior Civic Centre and was instrumental in the rehabilitation of many new homes in the town center. He was a member of the Board of Governors of Algonquin College and the Arnprior and District Hospital. George Johnson was an effective and caring man who devoted himself to God and family, community and work. His jobs are priced and the tenders are in, there's a paper to read and a sharp debate, a tenor to enjoy and a good meal to eat. (nee Armstrong). Died peacefully on June 1, 2001 at Fairhaven Home for Seniors in Peterborough. Born of missionary parents in Japan in 1905. Educated at the Canadian Academy in Kobe and at Victoria College in Toronto. Nellie married the Reverend R. Gordon Newman in 1931. They spent six years as missionaries in Japan before the war and served in United Church pastorates in Quebec and Ontario until Gordon died in 1958. Nellie then returned to Normal School and taught in elementary schools around Peterborough until she retired in 1970. Predeceased by one son David (Nancy). She is remembered with love by four children, Robert (Helen), Paul (Edith), Doris (William Close) and Ruth D'Ornellas, as well as thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held in Northminster United Church, Peterborough on Saturday, June 23, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Havelock, Ontario. José Llamas, époux de Constance Gravel, fils de Rafael Llamas y Madrid Salvador et de Maria Siendones Reyes, frère de Manuel, Antonio, Rafael (décédé), Lucia et Natividad. Ingénieur civil, membre de l’ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec, il obtint en 1968, un doctorat (PHD) d’État du Colorado, États-Unis. À l’emploi du ministère des Richesses Naturelles (aujourd’hui du ministère de l’Environnement du Québec), il fut directeur du Service de l’Aménagement hydraulique de 1969 à 1972. Nommé professeur à l’Université Laval la même année, titularisé en 1976, il fut directeur de la recherche sur l’eau (Centreau) de 1975 à 1982. Auteur d’ouvrages en diverses langues et d’articles en hydrologie, il était membre de quelque quinze organismes internationaux. Il a participé à de nombreuses missions scientifiques à titre de consultant pour les Nations Unies (PNDV, UNESCO, OMM), pour l’ACDI (agence canadienne de développement international), le CRDI (centre de recherches en développement international). Ses deux plus grandes réalisations sont la fondation du CIRA (Centre Inter-Américain des ressources en eau), de l’Université Autonome de Mexico et du CIRA, Brésil à l’Université Fédérale de Salvador de Bahia. Also survived by many relations in the Rehder, Arrand, Collver and Morkin families. Bill served with the Royal Canadian Air Force and with Canadian Forces Headquarters. A Distinguished Toastmaster, he was also active in the Heraldry Society of Canada, the Historical Society of Ottawa and Phi Delta Kappa. An alumnus of Western and Ottawa Universities, he never stopped his love of learning. He enjoyed talking and discussing, especially in his favourite areas of heraldry, genealogy and the history of the world that he had travelled and read extensively about. Bill will be remembered as a man with a booming infectious laugh and an amazing memory. He always had time for a book, a conversation, a cold beer, a game and a happy musical. He had a heart of gold and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Known to many as Ben, his friends and family will remember him as a gentleman and a proud Canadian. After a long and courageous battle with cancer in hospital in New Jersey on Sunday, June 3, 2001, Nancy died at the age of fifty-four surrounded by her family. She was the loving partner of Jon and beloved and proud mother of Michael and Jason. Passed away peacefully on Monday, June 4, 2001 in his ninety-first year. Beloved husband of Teddy Parkin, loving father of Edward and his wife, Dolores and cherished grandfather (Dziadziu) of Mark Jeremy and his wife Patrizia. Brother of the late Mary Mizgala (the late Walter), the late Joseph (Emily), Winnifred (the late George), Albert (Jennie), Theodora (Stanley), Lucy (Henry) and Henrietta (Bruce). Also survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. Henry along with his father, Alexander and brothers, Joseph and Albert, will be best remembered for "Alexander Ropeleski & Sons Bakery"; once the home of the best and freshest Polish bread in Quebec. Henry also served as warden of the Church and on the executive of the Polish White Eagle Society for many years. Visitation at Alfred Dallaire Inc., 2590 Rouen Street, Montreal on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. Funeral Mass on Thursday, June 7, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 2550 Gascon corner Hochelaga, Montreal.
