Born Jeannette David in Rockland, March 5, 1909, she was the daughter of Joseph David and Olivina Florent; sister of Alice Tremblay, Leo (Laurence), Fernand (Alda), Laurette Chenier, Fernande Kennedy, and Juliette Nantel (Gerry); and was predeceased by Anna Tremblay, Cecile Desjardins, Regina Desjardins, Gracia Couroux, Adrien, and Lucie. "Ma tante Jeannette" to many nieces and nephews. Widow of Claude Cornu, Leon Amiguet, and Gustave Bisson. Jeannette graduated from nursing at the Hopital Sacre Coeur, Hull. After a long career in the region, she retired in 1974 as Assistant Director of Nursing at the Ottawa General Hospital. A source of strength to many, Jeannette's friendship and guidance, strength of character, opinions, and quiet generosity will be terribly missed, but the memories cherished. MARGARET WILLIAMS In loving memory of Margaret Williams, 77, of Emo, Ont., who passed away Saturday, May 26, 2001 at the Emo Hospital. Peggy will be greatly missed by her husband, Wesley; sons, Brian (Christine), Roger, Ralph (Sandra), and Bruce (Helen); grandchildren, Sherri, Owen, Christopher, Kurt, Matthew, Katherine, Sarah, and Erin; sister, Barbara (Ernie) McLeod; sister-in-law, Laura Jewett; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Harriet; sister, Marjorie Colley and her husband, Charles; brother-in-law, Carl Thezenvitz and his wife, Muriel; sister-in-law, Dorothy Brannan and her husband, Thaddeus; and brother-in-law, Laverne Jewett. Peggy was born April 13, 1924 in Path Head District in Manitoba. She was united in marriage to Wesley on Aug. 22, 1947 and together they settled in the Emo area. She taught school in North Branch prior to her marriage and after the boys were older, she taught in Stratton and Devlin. Peggy was a woman who liked to keep busy--she babysat in their home; ran a kindergarten class at the Knox United Church in Emo; and sorted mail in the mornings at the local post office. She was a 20-year member of the Emo Library Board, serving as president at one time, a long-time member of the Emo Knox United Church, and as secretary for 10 years for the United Church Women (and president for two years). She taught Sunday School, and also was a member of the Emo Women’s Institute. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 31, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Knox United Church in Emo. Rev. Frances Flook will officiate, with interment in the Emo Cemetery in Emo. At Margaret’s request, no visitation will be held. Pallbearers will be William Neilson, Carman Neilson, Garnett Neilson, Alex Ogden, Ted Corrigan, and Dan Wilson. JEAN ELIZA BARRON Jean Eliza Barron (nee Armstrong), 81, a resident of Creston, B.C., passed away at the Creston Valley Hospital on May 26, 2001 after a valiant struggle against cancer. She was born Dec. 28, 1919 at Macoun, Sask., where she was raised and received her education, excelling in track and field sports and obtaining her high school diploma. Jean attended secretarial school in Regina. She married Roy Barron on March 11, 1942 in Barwick, Ont., where they raised their family. They remained on their farm until August, 1982, at which time they retired to Creston. Jean was a member of the Barwick Baptist Church, where she was an active member of the Ladies Circle. For several years, Roy and Jean attended Erickson Covenant Church in Creston, and were active workers in the Erickson Golden Agers Club. For the past five years, Jean had enjoyed attending St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy, in 1997; her parents, Gordon and Martha Armstrong; five brothers, Roy, Melbourne, Raymond, Ken, and Gerald; and one sister, Mary Moffatt. Jean will be sadly missed by her two sons, Rick of Calgary, Alta., and Michael (Brenda) of Fernie, B.C.; and three daughters, Judith (Edward) Swain of Creston, Sandra (Christopher) Dauphinais of Brandon, Man., and Cheryl (Ernest) Dooley of Brandon, Man. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Matthew, Geoffrey, Katie, and Tessa Barron of Fernie, B.C., and Anthony, Samantha, Joseph, and Jennifer Dauphinais of Brandon, Man.; and one great-grandson, Dylan Foster of Brandon, Man. Jean also is survived by two brothers, Douglas Armstrong of Richmond, Que., and Alan (Bill) Armstrong of Ottawa, Ont.; two sisters, Alice (Joe) Ostlund of Edmonton, Alta., and Vivian Montean of Medicine Hat, Alta.; one sister-in-law, Norma Armstrong of Estevan, Sask.; and numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. The funeral service will be held at St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church in Creston on Friday, June 1, 2001 at 11 a.m., with Pastor Harry Haberstock officiating on behalf of Pastor Doug Johns. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Erickson, B.C. Friend wishing to make a memorial tribute may do so to the Creston Valley Hospital-Palliative Care Suite, P.O. WALTER CARIBOU SR. Walter Caribou Sr. passed away Sunday, May 20, 2001 in Grand Portage, Mn. He was born Dec. 25, 1914 in Minnesota. He was united in marriage to the former Alma Redsky of Lac La Croix. Walter lived in Nett Lake and Grand Portage most of his life. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Mrs. Agnus Goodsky and Mrs. Elizabeth Boshey; and four children, Florence, Isabelle, Alvin, and Violet Walsh. Walter is survived by his wife, Alma; two sons, Walter Jr. and Gilbert; one daughter, Judy of Denver, Col.; one adopted son, Billy Blackwell; and seven grandchildren, Gord and Faron Caribou, and Elaine Walsh, all of Fort Frances, Ont., and Lynn Marie, Cheryl, Jennifer, and Jill of Minnesota.
