1918 - 2001 Le 26 mars 2001, Dom Jean Vidal, moine bénédictin de l’Abbaye de St-Benoit-du-Lac, est décédé à l’âge de 82 ans et 6 mois après une longue maladie. Né le 8 septembre 1918 à Montréal, il était le fils du Dr J.Avila Vidal et de dame Bernadette Delisle Marcotte. Au terme de ses Ètudes classiques et universitaires il entrait au noviciat de St- Benoit-du-Lac et faisait profession en 1944. Ordonné prêtre le 8 décembre 1949, il se vit confier la fonction d’hôtelier qu’il exerça pendant plus de 40 ans avec un dévouement inlassable, accueillant chaque hôte comme le Christ en personne avec cette courtoisie chaleureuse qui met en confiance et dispose au dialogue. Sensible à toutes les situations, il eut le souci constant d’encourager, d’éclairer et de rapprocher de Dieu. Dom Vidal fut aussi appelé à jouer un rôle déterminant lors de la construction de la nouvelle hôtellerie et de l’église abbatiale. Son rayonnement et son enthousiasme communicatif lui permirent d’intéresser de nombreux bienfaiteurs et bienfaitrices à la réalisation de ces deux projets voués au service de l’église. Il laisse dans le deuil, outre sa famille monastique, ses soeurs Thérèse (Charles Béïque) et Jeannine (Jacques Janin, décédé), plusieurs neveux et nièces et de très nombreux ami(e)s. Ses funérailles seront célébrées en l’église de St-Benoit-du-Lac, le jeudi 29 mars, à 11 heures.

1923-2001. In Montreal on March 24, 2001 at the age of seventy-seven, after a short illness. Marion died suddenly in her home in Montreal. She is survived by her five children (Judy of Ann Arbor, Mary and Mark of Los Angeles, Eric of Belgium and John of Montreal) and her eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her husband Lewis of Vermont. She grew up in Roger City, Michigan and lived there until 1960 when she moved to Port Cartier, Quebec pioneering a new community on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River. In 1970 she moved to Montreal where, after her nest emptied, she graduated from Concordia University. She worked as a journalist, editor and freelance writer and was actively involved in her community, volunteer work and with her close friends up to the time of her death. Passed away peacefully on March 24, 2001 in Welland, Ontario. Robb will be fondly remembered by many for his kind deeds to others, his love of his family, his service to the Central United Church in Welland, and his strong competitive streak in tennis and bridge, which he played avidly and loved to win with his wife Joyce. Robb was born on December 5, 1933 in Beckenham, England. He emigrated to Canada in 1955 with his first wife, Marlene, whom he met and married while stationed in Bermuda with the British Royal Navy, where he was a top cricket and soccer player. Marlene predeceased Robb in 1975. In addition to his wife Joyce, Robb is survived by his children Matthew and wife Becky Roof; Shelley; Wendi and fiance Cam Haygarth; Andrea and husband Coner Haines; Peter and wife Jane. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Kathy Lavern and Byron Godfry, cousin David Craske, brother John Cutts, brother-in-law Peter Singer and wife Louise, mother-in-law Madelaine (Dee) Overton, and grandchildren Madelaine and Abigaille Cutts, Hanna Cutts and Chad, Marlene and Coner Peter Haines. Robb's family would like to thank all of their friends and extended family in Montreal, Vancouver, Bermuda, Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, England, and Australia for their prayers and wishes during Robb's short illness. Joseph Edwin Aussant May 11, 1909 - March 24, 2001 Funeral arrangements by Marcotte Funeral Home & Chapel (Tecumseh) Passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 24, 2001, at the age of 91. Joe always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. We will dearly miss him and his amazing memories of days gone by. It's been an honour and a privilege for all of us to know such a warm, wise, and wonderful old soul. Beloved husband of the late Agnes. Dear father of Yvonne Lebert (predeceased by son-in-law Wilfred), Gerry (Joanne) Aussant of LaSalle, and Larry Aussant of Tecumseh. Cherished grandfather to John (Sandy), Joe (Alice), Jim (Carol) and Tom (Fatima) Lebert, Monique Arseneault, Lindsay and Heather Aussant. Jose Medeiros January 19, 1946 - March 25, 2001 Surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 25, 2001 at the Toronto General Hospital. Joe was taken from us too early in life at the age of 54 years. Dear husband and friend to Maria (Gaidola). Devoted father and mentor to his three sons of who he was very proud, Nilton, Mark and Cesar. Tremendous father-in-law to Pam and Magda.
