LaBrèque, ing., autrefois d’Acton Vale, fils de feu Me Charles LaBrèque et de feu dame Mercédès Dionne, de Québec. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse née Marie-Paule Rajotte; ses fils, Pierre (Gisèle Garneau), Éric, Marc, Luc (Claudette Préfontaine) et Charles (Marielle Thériault); 9 petits-enfants, Françoise, Christine, Valérie, Jean-Hugues, Guillaume, Virginie, Myriame, Ugo, Anne-Marie et trois arrière-petits-enfants, Élodie, Justin et Jacob. Monsieur La- Brèque a laissé sa marque dans les milieux industriel, municipal et politique ayant exercé la fonction de maire d’Acton Vale pendant 26 ans et membre de la commission scolaire pendant plus de 20 ans. Sousministre en titre du Ministère de la Voirie de 1961 à 1966, c’est sous son administration que fut achevée l’autoroute 20 (Jean- Lesage) et construite l’autoroute des Cantons de l’Est de même que le pont-tunnel L.H. Lafontaine, le pont Laviolette de Trois-Rivières et commencé le pont Pierre-Laporte de Québec. Il fut ensuite secrétaire exécutif du Conseil de planification et de développement du Québec. De plus il s’est impliqué dans les mouvements sociaux comme président diocésain de Caritas, les Chevaliers de Colomb (4e degré) et diverses associations professionnelles. Les funérailles auront lieu le mardi 27 mars, à 11h, à l’église St-André, rue St-André, Acton Vale et de là au cimetière paroissial, rue Roy. Beloved husband of Regina, father of Cid (wife Jennifer), Karl of Ottawa and Patrick of Toronto. Loving son of Palmina Parato and her late husband Placido Parato. Brother to Luigi (Gino) and his wife Marisa of Italy. Much loved son-in-law of the late Christine Eckl of Austria. Sadly missed by Luisa and Kelley. Born in Mola di Bari, Italy, Pino arrived in Canada in 1958. He then obtained his P.Eng., M.Sc., and MBA degrees from the University of Toronto. 1918 - 2001 Le 26 mars 2001, Dom Jean Vidal, moine bénédictin de l’Abbaye de St-Benoit-du-Lac, est décédé à l’âge de 82 ans et 6 mois après une longue maladie. Né le 8 septembre 1918 à Montréal, il était le fils du Dr J.Avila Vidal et de dame Bernadette Delisle Marcotte. Au terme de ses Ètudes classiques et universitaires il entrait au noviciat de St- Benoit-du-Lac et faisait profession en 1944. Ordonné prêtre le 8 décembre 1949, il se vit confier la fonction d’hôtelier qu’il exerça pendant plus de 40 ans avec un dévouement inlassable, accueillant chaque hôte comme le Christ en personne avec cette courtoisie chaleureuse qui met en confiance et dispose au dialogue. Sensible à toutes les situations, il eut le souci constant d’encourager, d’éclairer et de rapprocher de Dieu. Dom Vidal fut aussi appelé à jouer un rôle déterminant lors de la construction de la nouvelle hôtellerie et de l’église abbatiale. Son rayonnement et son enthousiasme communicatif lui permirent d’intéresser de nombreux bienfaiteurs et bienfaitrices à la réalisation de ces deux projets voués au service de l’église. Il laisse dans le deuil, outre sa famille monastique, ses soeurs Thérèse (Charles Béïque) et Jeannine (Jacques Janin, décédé), plusieurs neveux et nièces et de très nombreux ami(e)s. Ses funérailles seront célébrées en l’église de St-Benoit-du-Lac, le jeudi 29 mars, à 11 heures.

1913-2001. William (Bill) Scruton of Lethbridge, Alberta, passed away suddenly March 17, 2001 at the age eighty-seven in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Bill was predeceased by his wife and his older brother, Victor. He leaves behind to mourn daughter Linda Ann (Neill) and son-in-law Robert Maxwell Neill of Lethbridge, Alberta; son William Wayne and daughter-in-law Sandra-Lee (Huth) of Whitecourt, Alberta; grandson Joel William Scruton of Edmonton, Alberta; granddaughter Katherine Adelle Scruton of Lethbridge; sister Alice Scruton of Montreal; and sister-in-law Helene Scruton of Newcastle, Ontario. Viewing will take place Monday, March 26, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Rajotte Funeral Home, 3635 Hochelaga (corner of Chambly).
