Surrounded by the love of family and friends, Anita passed away peacefully at home, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Monday, March 5, 2001, in Ottawa, in her 74th year. Loving and much loved wife for over 53 years of Ernest Hayward. Most loved mother of Sharon Stewart (Ralph), Elaine Metcalfe (Jack) and Patricia Maheral (Wayne), cherished grandmother of Jennifer, Jason, Tammy, Patrick, JoAnne and Kimberly. Survived by a brother, Lockhart Morgan of Ancaster, Ontario and cousin, Audrey Coldwell of Wolfville, N.S. Anita was an active member of the Hylands Golf, Port Charlotte Shuffle Board and Maple Leaf Lawn Bowling Clubs. Even though she enjoyed the outdoors, her true passion was rooted through her creativity, whether expressed in the kitchen or in her many other artistic abilities. Her brave and determined fight for life was an inspiration for all who knew and loved this true Maritimer, whose smile was always present. Anita was overwhelmed with all the cards and calls she received during her illness. The family wishes to thank the whole Oncology team at the Ottawa General, from the tireless technicians and chemotherapy nurses, to Doctors Diane Logan and Olu Aboola.
