At the Jewish General Hospital on March 2, 2001, at the age of sixty-two, passed away after a valiant fight against cancer. Eva leaves behind her son Geza (Joe) and her three loving grandchildren Amanda, David and Emma. Eva's love for life will be remembered by all who were touched by her spirit and zest for adventure. She lived life "her" way. He is survived by his sisters Maria Kin in Ukraine and Tekla Harahuc in Poland. Dear mother of Dilys (Brian Toole), Janis (Robert Lacroix), David (Barbara), Mavis (David Haws), and Jennifer (Michael Yeo). Predeceased by daughter Susanna. Loving grandmother of Jason, Corry, Colin, Geoffrey, Katie, Tammy, Robert, Julie (Ed Dunnigan) and Helen (Pat Crawford). Great-grandmother of Jessica, Danika, Katrina, Brett, Connor, and Thomas. Will be fondly missed by many nieces and nephews. Born in Holyhead, Wales, graduated from London School of Economics, Katie came to Canada as a War Bride. Katie dedicated her life to others, working tirelessly to better the lives of those in need, both in her public and private life. Named Ottawa's Citizen of the Year in 1979, Katie worked at the Children's Aid Society, Family Service Centre, sat on the board of directors of various agencies and taught at Algonquin College. After "retiring" to Pakenham, she continued to volunteer with community groups. (nee Diabo). 1920-2001. Passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. Predeceased by her husband Herman Rice, sons Leroy and Harvey, grandson Gordon, sisters Mary, Theresa and Josie and brothers Wise and John. Mother of Betty, Michael (Frances), Linda (Aubrey), Russell (Muriel), Gloria, Robert and Calvin (Belda). Grandmother of twenty, great-grandmother of three. She is survived by her brother Roy and sisters Margaret, Ann, Elizabeth, Ruby, Ruth and Irene, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Resting at Poissant and Deer Funeral Home, Kahnawake. Funeral will be held on Saturday, March 3 at 2 p.m. at the parlor. Interment at Kahnawake Protestant Cemetery. it is requested that donations be made to the Kahnawake Fire Brigade or the Pentecostal Church of which she was a longtime member. The family wishes to thank Dr. Jones, the Home Care staff and especially Tracy Johnson for her kindness while caring for our mother, as well as Pastor Joy Johnston for her support and guidance.
