After a courageous battle with cancer, at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Friday, March 2, 2001 in her 51st year. Joan Scott, beloved mother of Terri-Lynne Robinson (Ron) of Ottawa. Survived by her mother Ethel Scott Marion (John) of Ottawa, grandchildren Jessica and Tyler Bonacci, sisters Margaret "Peggy" Coulas (Syl), Ann Courcelle (Don), and Heather Scott (Frank) and several nieces and nephews. Dear friend of Dawn, Tom and Jeff, Brenda and Sharron. Joan was predeceased by her father Clarence Scott. Born 28 November 1931 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, he was preceded by his parents Lily Ada and Robert Loyd Simmermon of Irma, Alberta, brother Robert Simmermon and sister Vera Moyer. He is mourned by his daughters Lisa Simmermon (Brian Johnson) of Regina, Laura Simmermon (Winston Gomes) and Cheryl Simmermon (Michael Kanstrup) both of Ottawa, grandsons Hans Johnson and Matthew Simmermon-Gomes, sister Doreen Smith of Edmonton, sister-in-law Stella Simmermon of Calgary, and brother-in-law Ralph Moyer of Ottawa, as well as by cousins, nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by Patricia Simmermon (Ottawa), Joan Dawson (Ottawa) and Vi Hannah (Elliot Lake). QC, FRSC On Saturday, February 17, 2001, Norman passed away peacefully in Edmonton, a month shy of his 88th birthday. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Magda (Kemeny), 2 sons, Kem (Donna), and David (Chris), 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Born and educated in Manchester, England (B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D and Doctor of Science), Norman spent most of his life dedicated to chemistry, particularly spectroscopy and the importance of computers in handling data, at the National Research Council in Ottawa. Internationally renowned for his research, Norman made a number of important discoveries, produced over 300 research publications and represented Canada on many international organizations. After his official retirement from NRC in 1978, he and Magda travelled extensively as he continued his research and teaching, including 3 years at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. In 1992 they moved to Edmonton where he continued his academic work at the University of Alberta. Recognized for his contribution through many professional awards and 2 honorary degrees he was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1999. A memorial celebrating his life will be held at Garneau United Place, 11148 - 84th Avenue, Edmonton, on Saturday, March 17, 2001, at 2 p.m. A private family inurnment has been held. Funeral services were held on August 1, 2000 at the Notre Dame de la Paix Church in Kapuskasing. Burial followed at the Mattice Cemetery.

James "Joe" Endean We regret to announce the death of James "Joe" Endean on June 19 at the Sensenbrenner hospital at the age of 88. He is survived by his wife; Lea, three sons; Bill husband of Paulette of Sudbury, Jim husband of Rita of Acton and Ken husband of Peggy Anne of Kapuskasing as well as three grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his brother Beverly and two grandchildren; Debbie and Derek. The Eucharistic Celebration was held on Wednesday June 21 at 10:15 am at St Patrick's Parish with Father Leo Papineau officiating. Interment followed at the Kapuskasing cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Fund or the charity of your choice would greatly be appreciated.

Edith Munro We regret to announce the death of Edith Munro on May 23, 2000 in Fort Frances at the age of 93 years. Yvon Brisson We regret to announce the death of Yvon Brisson on August the 10 at the Amqui Hospital Centre in Amqui, Quebec at the age of 65. He is survived by his wife; Bernadette, two daughters; Roxane McLaughlin wife of Regent, Sylvie Brisson wife of Gaston Comeau all of Kapuskasing, one son; Christian of Gatineau, his mother; Mrs. Adele Brisson of Quebec, three step daughters; Guylaine Paiement and Francine Leblanc all of Timins, Sylvie Lamontagne wife of Pierre of Rockland, one step son; Michel Leblanc husband of Marie of Ottawa, five sisters; Yvette Belanger and Guylaine Brisson all of Quebec, Jeannine Brisson, Aline Claveau and Fernande Constantin all of Montreal, eight brothers; Gerard, Jean-Yves, Berthier, Ghislain and Jacquelin all of Quebec, Roger and Fernand of Montreal, Claude of Alberta as well as nine grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his first wife Marguerite née Larabie and his father Eugene. Funeral services were held on Tuesday August 15 at 10:30 am at the Immaculee Conception parish with Father Gilles Gosselin officiating. Interment followed at the Kapuskasing cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Ontario Heart & Stroke fund would be greatly appreciated.
