GAGNON (Mme Alphéda Rathé) Le 4 octobre 2009 est décédée au Centre de santé et de services sociaux de Jonquière, à l'âge de 88 ans et 7 mois, Mme Alphéda Rathé, épouse de feu M. Louis-Joseph Gagnon, demeurant à la Pension Ste-Famille, autrefois rue Angers, Jonquière. La famille a accueilli les parents et amis à la Résidence funéraire du Saguenay 2580, rue St-Dominique Jonquière Les funérailles ont eu lieu le jeudi 8 octobre 2009 à 10 h à l'église Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix. L'inhumation a eu lieu au cimetière Shipshaw. Elle était la fille de feu Mme Marie Brassard et de feu M. Ernest Rathé. Elle laisse dans le deuil ses enfants : Marie-Ange Gagnon (Jacques Tremblay), Louis-Marie (Johanne Desgagné), Madeleine (Pierre Jean), Rodrigue (Sonja Grant), Ginette (Daniel Aubin); ses petits-enfants : Dominic, Élisabeth, Catherine (Éric), Frédéric, Rébecca (Marcelo), Aglaé (Simon), Michaël, Mélanie (Jaki), Sébastien, Emmanuël, Alexandra, Nicolas, Kevin (Ai), Stéphanie; ses arrière-petits-enfants : Bianca, Jessica, Xavier, Luis, Annaïs, Mia, Anthony. CALLUM, Margaret Helen - peacefully at University Hospital, London, on Sunday, October 4, 2009, in her 98th year. Beloved wife of the late William James Callum. Loved and devoted mother of Rosemary and her husband John Whittaker. Predeceased by her parents Captain Peter and Margaret McIntyre of Sarnia and sister Mary Dorothy Galbraith. Mrs. Callum was a faithful member of New St. James Presbyterian Church, a member of its Glengarry and Women's Missionary Society and past Regent of the I.O.D.E. in Chatham, Ontario. THOMAS, James “Jimmy“ - Peacefully on Sunday, October 4th, 2009 at the St. Catharines General Hospital at age 67. Best friend and companion of Grace Edwards for fifteen years. Also survived by brothers Peter, Aubrey, Terry and Mark as well as many nieces and nephews. Jimmy was retired from Abitibi Paper Mill for 9 years, and was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 17 (Thorold). Cremation has taken place. GIROUX, Lionel 1931-2009 Lionel aimait la vie, chanter, rire, blaguer, voyager, s'amuser et travailler le bois. Toujours actif, il adorait pratiquer le golf, le ski, la voile autant que sa profession d'évaluateur agréé. Après avoir courageusement lutté pendant dix-huit mois, il s'est éteint doucement le 27 septembre en laissant dans le deuil son épouse Clarisse Beaulne, ses enfants feu Jasmine, Sylvette (Denis), Patrice (Marie-Josée), ses six petits-enfants Geneviève, Roxane, Julie, Jean-Philippe, Olivier, Antoine-David, ses arrière-petits- enfants Thompson, Zack, Lilianne, une deuxième arrière-petite-fille à naître Sophia-Jasmine ainsi que ses frères, soeurs, beaux-frères, belles-soeurs, neveux, nièces et amis. Une messe sera célébrée vendredi le 9 octobre à 13 heures au Centre Communautaire St-Louis (220 Claude Dauzat à Boucherville). Par la suite, la famille y recevra vos condoléances jusqu'à 16 h 30. Laurie "Joe" LeBlanc 1921-2009 À la Villa Providence, le mardi 6 octobre 2009, à l'âge de 88 ans, est décédé Laurie "Joe" LeBlanc. Il demeurait autrefois à Saint-André-LeBlanc. Né le 12 juillet 1921 à Saint-André, il était fils de feu Eustache et Émilienne (McGraw) LeBlanc. Joe était un charpentier avant sa retraite et membre du club d'âge d'or de Cap-Pelé. Il était vétéran de la deuxième guerre mondiale avec les forces de l'armée canadienne. Il laisse dans le deuil quatre filles: Yvonne LeBlanc (Raymond), Phelena McNeill (Ken) et Camilla Hébert (Camille) toutes de Saint-André-LeBlanc, Joanne Kenny (Jimmy) de Anderson Settlement; trois fils: Edgar (Lota) de bas Cap-Pelé, Paul-Émile (Norma) de Haute-Aboujagane et Jacques "Jimmy" (Yvette) de Cap-Pelé; une soeur Diana Comeau de Shediac; 12 petits-enfants, 10 arrière-petits-enfants, 1 arrière-arrière-petit-enfant, ainsi que plusieurs nièces et neveux. Lucien Comeau - À la Villa Maria de Saint-Louis, le lundi 5 octobre 2009, à l'âge de 73 ans, est décédé paisiblement, après une longue maladie Lucien Comeau. Il demeurait à Saint-Louis-de-Kent. Né le 2 novembre 1935, il était fils de feu Lucien et de feu Julienne (Tremblay) Comeau. Lucien manquera à son épouse bien-aimée, Jeannine (Robichaud) Comeau de Saint-Louis; à ses trois fils: Vincent (Cheryl) de Calgary, Danny (Colette) de Fredericton et Jimmy (Pauline) de Lakeville; à ses trois filles: Patsy (Paul-Emile) d'Aldouane, Carole (John) de Vancouver et Anne-Marie (Donald) d'Aldouane; à ses deux frères: John (Régina) de Saint-Louis et Emile (Lydia) de Saint-Louis; à sa soeur, Marie (John Vella) de Toronto. Il laisse dans le deuil 13 petits-enfants et plu sieurs neveux et nièces. Trois frères: David, Antoine et Albert, ainsi que deux soeurs: Marguerite et Emma, l'ont pré cédé dans la tombe. Il a travaillé pendant 25 ans au Parc national Kouchibouguac, avant sa maladie. SCOTT, William 2009-10-06 It is with heavy hearts that we announce that William Waldon Scott, age 64, passed away on October 4, 2009. Over the past four years Bill was engaged in a valliant battle with cancer. He met this intruder’s relentless assaults upon him with unflagging courage and determination. Bill was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick on June 30, 1945. The Scott family moved to Smiths Falls, Ottawa and then settled in Geraldton, Ontario in 1958. Bill had a career that spanned 34 years with Kimberly Clark of Canada. Bill loved his years as a drummer with "The Orbits" and then travelling the North Shore circuit with Hector Tremblay’s band. He was an avid sportsman. Over the years he both participated in and contributed countless volunteer hours to the sports of baseball, minor hockey, and curling. However it was golf and the development and expansion of the Kenogamisis Golf Club that became his all consuming passion. His commitment to the organization has left an indelible mark. He was recognized and awarded for his efforts with a lifetime membership in July 2009. Predeceasing Bill are his parents Corinne and Gordon Scott, and his sister Evelyn Bentley. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Theriault (step-daughter Meagan), his daughter Stacy Whalen (Derek), his sister Mary Jane Scott (Jean-Yves), and his sister Nancy Baxter (Bob). He also has a number of nieces and nephews - Cory, Scott, Trisha, Shawn, Jenny, Kevin and Jillian. A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held at the Kenogamisis Golf Club on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations to Northern Cancer Fund - Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation or the Kenogamisis Golf Club would be gratefully appreciated by his family.

Beloved husband of the late Eleanor (Forbes) Constant, and loving father of John (Debbie) of Vancouver, Janet Baldwin, North Bay, and Robert Constant, Montreal. Grandfather of Nathan and Adam Baldwin, SherryLee, Logan and Candace Constant. Dear brother of Vivian Gallardi (Lundy, deceased) and brother-in-law of Laurie Constant (Ruglas, deceased). Predeceased by his parents Harry Simon Constant and Agnes (Walker) Constant, brothers Vernal and Ruglas, sisters Jean Constant and Marion Smith Jefferson of Spokane, Washington. Fondly remembered by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. John will also be remembered by his friends at the Crisis Centre where he was employed for many years before retirement. He loved the game of golf, was an avid violinist and loved all music and dancing. He was very proud of his involvement with AA and leaves behind many friends. She worked as a secretary for various doctors in Sudbury, retiring from Dr. Ali in 2004. She was a Sunday School teacher in the basement of her home in Lively. She served one term as president of the Lively Legion. You could always identify her presence with her hearty laugh and pleasant smile. She was a strong believer in religious faith. YOUNG, Nelson "Keith" Col. RCAF Retired Peacefully on Tuesday, Aug 25 at the Belleville General Hospital at the age of 86. Loving husband of the late Dorothy Helen (nee Jones). He will be sadly missed by his family, Don and Lorraine of Ottawa, Sharon and Gordon of Halifax, his grandchildren Andrew, Brendan, David and Mathew and his great grandchildren Campbell, Anna and Penelope. Keith was part of the Commonwealth Air Training Plan during WWII as a Flying Instructor and taught in both Canada and England. He served 35 years in the RCAF and represented his country as Canada's Military Attache to Moscow and Helsinki in the early 70's. He retired in 1977 to his little piece of heaven in Hasting County. The family will hold a memorial service at Bethel United Church, Stirling Ontario, on October 8, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Interment at Bethel United Church Cemetery. McKINNON , Janet Janet McKinnon, beloved mother of Carole Ash of Winnipeg and Marlene (Lewis) Bedford of Calgary, passed away peacefully at Newport Harbours Care Centre on October 4, 2009 at the age of 93. Janet was predeceased in 2002 by her husband of sixty-five years Gar McKinnon. Janet is survived by six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Born on September 16, 1916 in Darlingford, Manitoba, she moved at an early age to Foxwarren, Manitoba. She later moved to Winnipeg where she continued to live and raise her family until her husband's retirement. The couple then moved to the Cobble Hill district of Vancouver Island where they were both members of the Cowichan Golf and Country Club. Janet also spent time as a volunteer with the Cowichan Seniors' Lodge. After twenty years on the island the decision was made to shorten the distance that separated them from other family members and a final move was made to Calgary. Janet spent her entire adult life showering family members and friends with her artistic creations from knitted sweaters, beautifully sewn children's dresses, hand-made quilts, delicate needlework pictures and too many afghans to count. In addition she was a wonderful cook who learned to use a computer in her later years to create several family memorabilia cookbooks and a family tree. When the Harbours of Newport seniors' residence first opened, she was the first resident. Janet was a gentle soul who had the art of making life-long friends. She loved her family above all else and was always non-judgemental. She was a lady. ZUBEC, Albina 2009-10-06 February 1, 1929- October 2, 2009 It is with a great sadness and loss but also with a sense of joy and celebration of a life well lived, that the family of Albina Zubec announce her passing on Friday , October 2, 2009 in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre surrounded by her family. Albina was born in Port Arthur on February 1, 1929 to Antonio and Guiditta Pizzolato. Her greatest joy was her family and she was most proud of her grandchildren whom she enjoyed spending time with. She was generous beyond fault, possessing a great sense of humour. She genuinely loved people, and had a great belief in her God, taking great comfort in the power of prayer. A hard worker, Albina was employed for many years with Mahon’s Furniture, the Pop Shop and in later years with Dawson Court Home For The Aged. For many years Albina ran the Craft Show at the Valhalla Inn, she volunteered as a canvasser with the DiabetesAssociation, Arthritis and Alzheimer Societies. A great lover of the out-of-doors, Albina enjoyed fishing and picking blueberries. Her culinary skills were exceptional and her perogies and cabbage rolls were the "hit" of many a dinner party. One of Albina’s favourite outings of late was her Thursday’s at the Thunder Bay Casino, a pastime she always looked forward to. Her trips to Grand Portage and Hinkley with her sister Julia and brother-in-law John were times she enjoyed immensley. The last family gathering that Albina celebrated was her 80th birthday, where she sat like a queen, surrounded by her family and friends, eating, laughing over a old photos, reading cards and enjoying everyone’s company. This to Albina was what life was all about....people. She is lovingly remembered by her son Ken (Cindy), daughter Sharon Bobie (Alex), her grandchildren Tara Bobie, Toronto (enroute) and Paul Bobie, Thunder Bay, Kathy Zubec and Sara Zubec of Esconido, California, sisters Julia Talarico (John), Thunder Bay and Rita McLeod, Victoria, B.C., sisters-in-law Helen Zubec, Thunder Bay and Verna Pizzolato, Whitby, Ontario. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Albina will be sadly missed by her four-legged buddy Theo who had Grandma giving in with treats every time he looked at her with his sad little eyes. RICHARD, Robert (Bob) (Former Employee - Ottawa School Board) Following a courageous battle, Bob passed away in hospital on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at the age of 57 years. He leaves behind his loving wife Elaine (nee Barry) and his much loved sons, Sean (Lacey), Kirk (Karla), Kevin and Neil (Jen). "Poppa" will be dearly missed by grandchildren Jacey and Addison. He was the dear son of Donald and the late Beverly, brother of Bruce (Jean-Francois) and Vikki Landry (Rick). He will also be missed by mother-in-law Nan Barry, brother-in-law Ken Barry (Kim), many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and canine buddy Webster. THOMSON , Donald Alan 1957-2009 It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Don Thomson, on Friday, October 2, 2009, a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. He was born July 12, 1957, in Vancouver, BC. Don leaves behind his loving wife, Krissy, his sons the "two Spikes" - Daryl (Angela) and Spencer and his "Pumpkin" Hillary; his parents Doug and Kay Thomson and siblings Heather Storteboom (Ray), Laurie Maxwell (Gary) and Doug Thomson (Terry) along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends from PEI and the Sunshine Coast. Don will be remembered most for his devotion to his family and friends. He loved working with people and doing for others. He was never too busy to help a friend, teach his kids or make you laugh. Some of his many passions were building things with his hands, coaching hockey, a great spectator of all sports, and salmon fishing. He always loved to provide for family, friends and fellow firemen; whether it be his flare for cooking a meal, building a deck, or whatever the project of the day was Don was there with a helping hand and a story or two ending in his contagious deep belly laugh. Don was a proud member of the Calgary Fire Department for twenty-eight years and will be remembered with great fondness and respect by all who had the privilege of working a shift with him.
