Mr. Raymond (Ray) Marsden March 14, 1938 - January 11, 2009 Come to celebrate the life of Ray (Bammer / Bam Bam) Marsden, on Friday, January 16, 2009 at 11:00am in the Duchess room at the Hotel Bedford in Goderich on the Square for a light lunch and story-telling. He passed peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2009, with his wife Sheila at his side. Remembered fondly by his daughter, Pamela and her partner Christopher Clarke (Calgary); brother Albert and his family (Melbourne, Australia); sister-in-law Anne, brother-in-law Jim, nieces Leanne, Hannah and Cassie (Liverpool, England). ZORZI, Rev. Dr. Daniel J. Zorzi, CSB, JCD, PhD (April 30, 1960 January 16, 2009) - Peacefully, Friday, January 16, 2009 at Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto, Ontario, surrounded by his family and friend, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, our son, brother and uncle passed from this life to rest forever in the Eternal Life that he preached, taught and devoted his life to here on earth as a Roman Catholic Priest in the Congregation of St. Basil. Dan will remain forever the cherished son of Ernest and Marlene Zorzi (nee Wierzbicki). Dan will forever be missed by his Brother Chris, wife Sandra, Sister Kelly Boudreau, and husband Vince, all of Sault Ste. Marie. Brother Paul, wife Lisa of Milton, Ontario. His niece and nephews Jordache Boudreau, Matthew Zorzi, Cody Zorzi, Keegan Boudreau all of Sault Ste. Marie and Athena and Nicholas Zorzi of Milton, Ontario will forever miss their Very Special Uncle Dan. Dan is also survived by his aunt Sister Norma Zorzi, CSJ, and his uncle Rino Zorzi both of Sault Ste. Marie. Dan was predeceased by his grandparents, Ines and Ferdinando Zorzi and Violet and Alex Wierzbicki. Dan will be remembered by his many aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be missed by his close friend Matthew Durham, a Basilian Seminarian, the many Basilian and Diocesan Bishops and Priests that he worked with and lived with over the years, he will also be missed by the many friends that he made during his life in Sault Ste. Marie and during his tenures in Windsor, London, Toronto and throughout the world. During his 48 years with us, Dan accomplished many things. He is a graduate of St. Veronica Separate School and St. Mary's College, Sault Ste. Marie, ON. Fr. Dan earned his B.A. (Honours Psychology) from McMaster University, Hamilton, ON in 1983. He taught high school at St. Charles College, Sudbury for one year before entering the Novitiate of the Congregation of St. Basil in Sugar Land, TX in 1985, and professed vows on August 10, 1986. He was appointed to St. Basil's Seminary in Toronto and earned the M.Div. from the Faculty of Theology, University of St. Michael's College (USMC) in 1989. He was ordained to the priesthood by Rev. Bishop Pappin at Precious Blood Cathedral in Sault Ste. Marie on December 2, 1989 and then served as Priest-Chaplain at St. Thomas More College, Saskatoon, SK from 1989 to 1991. He pursued graduate studies in Canon Law and was awarded the J.C.D. and the Ph.D. by St. Paul University and the University of Ottawa in 1995. From 1995- 2000 Fr. Zorzi was Pastor of Assumption Church, Windsor, ON and lectured in Canon Law at Assumption University 1995-1996. Fr. Dan served as President of St. Michael's College School, Toronto, ON, from 2000 - 2005. His time at St. Mike's will remain forever as a very special time for Fr. Dan and for those that he worked with and touched in so many ways. He also served as President of the St. Michael's Majors of the Ontario Hockey League and will always remain as their most loyal fan. From 2005- 2008 Fr. Zorzi served the Diocese of London, ON in the Office of Canonical Services, Marriage Tribunal, and was also Associate Pastor of St. Peter's Cathedral Basilica in London. He moved to Toronto in the summer of 2008 and began teaching in the Pastoral Department of the Faculty of Theology, USMC while continuing his work with the Marriage Tribunal. Throughout his battle with cancer one thing that we all took note of was that he never once complained. With all of the treatments and setbacks, the highs and lows that this disease brings to an individual he battled on with a courage and strength that is indescribable. We are so proud of him; he is a model for us all. Dan always held his family as a main focus in his life and whenever possible wanted us to be together. He often arranged occasions where we could all be together for vacations or dinners, to celebrate Christmas and Easter and family events. During his final weeks Dan was blessed to be placed in the Palliative Care Unit at Princess Margaret Hospital, the care and attention that he received was second to none. The kindness, compassion, dedication and attention to not only Dan's needs but also those of our family will always be remembered. We thank each and every one of the Nursing Staff. We extend a special thanks to Dr. Dori Seccareccia, and Dr. Bryson for making Dan's final days pain free and comfortable and for treating him with dignity and compassion. May God Bless you all, you are very special people. We cannot express enough our thanks to Dan's friend, colleague and caregiver Matthew Durham for being constantly by his side through the good times and the bad over the past 20 months. To his special lifelong friend Mary Lou Kairiss for her help and support, we thank you. Dan lost his battle with cancer but won his war. He lives forever in Paradise with His Jesus. Fr. FERRIS, Joseph - The family of Joseph Ferris would like to announce his passing into heaven on Saturday January 17, 2009. He was a man of profound compassion and love for his family and we will truly miss his presence in our lives. We know that he will rest peacefully in the hands of God and is finally reunited with his precious wife Helen. Joseph was born May 25, 1915 and married his loving wife Helen (nee Nebesnuik) on that same date 25 years later. Treasured father of Bernice Pawelek (Stan), Nicholas (Norma) and Debbie Graystone (Roxie). Adored Gigo of Liisa Ferris, Mark (Colleen), Lawrence (Delia) and Philip (Shannon) Pawelek, Roxie Jr. (Kirstin) and Amber Graystone. Cherished great-grandfather of Tyler, Alexis, Jalen and Jack Pawelek. He was the son of the late Samuel and Watfa Ferris and son-in-law of the late Michael and Paraska Nebesnuik. Mr. Raymond Barrieau, 76, of Ray Barrieau Lane Miramichi, NB., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the Dr. George L Dumont Hospital Moncton, NB. Born in Saint John, NB., the son of the Isaac & Lea (Richard) Barrieau. He loved long walks in the woods and sitting in the front window watching the birds and squirrels. His friendly and pleasant smile will be sadly missed by many. PROUDFOOT, Matthew Mackenzie It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Matthew Mackenzie Proudfoot, wonderful son of Jeffery and Charmaine and dear brother of Tiffany, on Thursday January 15, 2009 at the age of 25 years. Matthew was born in Lethbridge on March 13, 1983. He attended his early years of schooling in Lethbridge before attending Upper Canada College in Toronto, graduating in 2001 from Catholic Central. Matthew then attended the University of Alberta in Edmonton with a semester at the University of Dundee, Scotland before graduating in 2006 from U of A with a degree in Business. After graduation Matt accepted a position with Altus Helyer in Calgary. The lure of opportunity came calling when Matthew took a position in Dubai in 2008 with C.B. Richard Ellis as a real estate consultant before returning home to Calgary. Matt's first love was hockey. He was a fast skater and a mighty defenceman. He was the protector of everyone on and off the ice. A loyal friend, brother, son, grandson and of course a loyal Oilers fan. Matthew was so excited after receiving his gold medal after winning the Alberta Provincials on his eleventh birthday. A champion and leader on and off the ice. Matthew won numerous awards and tournaments throughout his hockey career. As a fifteen year old he played for N.A.C.A. of Edmonton in Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria and Germany. Matt also played many other sports including golf, curling and skiing. Matthew is survived by his parents Jeffery and Charmaine of Lethbridge and his sister Tiffany of Edmonton, Alberta, his grandmother Judy Proudfoot of Richmond, B.C., his Aunt Colleen of Vancouver, Aunt Sharee and Uncle Gerry, cousins Hector, Brandon and Rachel of Twassassan, B.C., Uncle Garry and Aunt Joan of West Vancouver, B.C., Uncle Norm and Aunt Cindy and cousin Cassidy Laflamme of Lethbridge, and more friends than we can mention. PASSMORE, Elizabeth (Betty) - At Leisureworld Caregiving Centre on Sunday January 18, 2009 in her 88th year. Born September 14, 1921 in West Ferris, Betty Spent her entire life in the area, raising her family and enjoying the wildness of Northern Ontario. Dear wife of 55 years to the late Bert Passmore. Loving mother of Tom (Debbie) of Peterborough, Robert (Carol) of Powassan, Judith Wootten (Philip) of Toronto and Jill Passmore (Glen) of Nipissing. Sadly missed by grandchildren Shad, Lauren, Anna, Emily, Ian, Jonathan, David, Stephen, Erin and Laura and by 10 great grandchildren. Survived by her sisters Freda Holman (Ted), Jean Rowe and Shirley Donaldson. Predeceased by her parents Richard and Georgina Howard, brothers Donald and George Howard and by her sister Marjorie Cole. Betty spent much of her time volunteering with the Royal Canadian Legion, Emmanuel United Church and the CNIB, was a past president of the Ferris Lioness Club and was a life member of the West Ferris Minor Hockey Association for which she also served as the first female president in the 1960's. Betty had a great love for the outdoors and she also loved to garden. Her beautiful yard was full of gardens and flowers. She loved to go for walks in the country and often picked bouquets of wild flowers. She always had a ready smile and a spunky spirit and it was no secret that the greatest joy in her life, next to Bert, were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Emmanuel United Church on Wednesday at 11 am. Cremation to follow at the Forest Lawn Crematorium. If desired donations to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. 1924-2009 Issac Fox "Scotty" Campbell, husband of the late Helen Rigley, of Winnipeg Crescent, Miramichi Retirement Community, passed away peacefully, close to his adopted, but beloved Miramichi River, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Saturday evening, January 10, 2009, at the age of 84. He was truly an Officer and a Gentleman of the highest order. Born in Waterton, Aberdeenshire, Scotland on March 19, 1924, he was the son of the late James and Catherine (Fox) Campbell. Scotty was a retired officer & fighter pilot with the R.C.A.F. ; He served three terms - In wartime overseas (1942-45) regular service (1950-1972) and again in the reserve (1982-84) Many of his years in the service were spent on the Chatham base and he took up residence in the Miramichi area (White Rapids) following his retirement. Amongst his proudest accomplishments was flying the Canadian F-86 Saber. Of particular note was in participation in the Saber's final North American Fly Past in 1968. His years on the Miramichi were greatly enriched by nature, animals and fly fishing. He is survived by four sons; James R. Campbell, of Toronto, Ont., Thomas D. Campbell, of Vancouver, B.C., Robert M. Campbell, of Vancouver, B.C., Peter R. Campbell, of Toronto,. Ont.; two sisters, Katherine Connors, of Cambridge, Ont, Nel Reid, of Markahm, Ont.; one brother, Tom Campbell (Velma), of Gananoque, Ont.; step daughters Carole Gordon, of Barrie, Ont., Diane Rooney, of Toronto, Ont.; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Rigley, in 2000; brothers Jimmy and Davey Campbell and sisters Esther and Agnes. A public memorial service was held from Adams Funeral Home Chapel, on Thursday, January 15, 2009, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Dale Greer. Music for the service was provided by William Sweezey and two solos were offered by Rev. Dale Greer "Mansion On A Hilltop" and "Amazing Grace". The eulogy was given by Lorraine Malley and special family memories were shared by sons, Robert, Thomas, Peter and James Campbell. Interment will be in Miramichi, later in the spring. MILLER, Eileen March 8, 1914 - January 16, 2009 Eileen Miller of Calgary, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2009 at the age of 94 years. Eileen and Fred lived and farmed in the High River area before moving to Calgary in 1963. Eileen enjoyed working as a commercial cook in restaurants and senior homes. Later on, they enjoyed their retirement years in Arizona. Eileen is survived by four sons; Roy and Arlene, Bill and Orial, Ron and Dorothy, Bob and Sharron; and two daughters, Donna and Bud Keay and Bonnie and Jim Johnston. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great and great-great-grandchildren. Eileen was predeceased by her loving husband Fred, and grandson Jeff Keay, both in 2001, her two brothers, Bill and Bert Shave and her sister Mary Fleury. Mr. Mike Kurysh March 24, 1930 - January 12, 2009 MIKE KURYSH Our beloved father Mike Kurysh passed away suddenly at his home in Saskatoon, SK on Monday, January 12, 2009 at the age of 78 years. He is survived by his loving sons, Ed (Phyllis), Steve, Joe (Ruth), Peter and Michael. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Darcy (Jodie), Cory (Jodi-Lee), Kelly (Jackie), Callan, Cody, Geoff and Bridgett. Also lovingly remembered by his great-grandchildren, Connor, Madison, Kennedy and Lexi; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. NACCARATO, Francesco 'Frank' - Peacefully at the Great Northern Nursing Center on Friday, January 16, 2009; Frank Naccarato at the age of 77 years. Dear son of the late Alfonso and Maria Naccarato of Italy. Loving brother of Emilia Beltrano (Salvatore) of Italy, late Antonio Naccarato (Zelia) of Sault Ste. Marie, Luigi Naccarato (late Maria) of Italy, Teresa Beltrano (late Oreste) of Sault Ste. Marie, late Assunta Mandarino (late Gaetano) and predeceased by his three sisters Emilia, Teresa and Assunta Naccarato. Frank will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and his dear friends Connie and Margaret. At Frank's request there will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Veronica's Church on Tuesday January 20, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Ron Ambeault officiating. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum.
