GRAHAM, John - Formerly of Napanee and Kingston, passed away peacefully at the Verterans' Health Unit in Fredericton, New Brunswick on October 20, 2008. He was eighty-nine. John's loss is deeply felt by his beloved wife of sixty-six years, Evelyn. He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Barbara Rombough, of Moncton N.B., and Mary Woods, of Roblin, ON, as well as his daughter-in-law Marilyn Graham and son-in- law Ashur Rombough. He was predeceased by his son Kim. John was the much loved Poppa of Chris, Jennifer, Norah, Kate, Stephen, Janna and Beckie and the great- grandfather of Bronwen, Hannah and Ben. OAKES, Chalmers Janet - It is with great sadness that the family of Chalmers Oakes announces her death in Oakville on Saturday October 18th, 2008 after a brief illness. Betty was a survivor along with her family of the Haileybury fire of 1922. She taught public school for over thirty two years, retiring in the 1970's. Betty graduated from Teachers College in North Bay in the 40's, then went on to teach in Buck Lake, Widdifield, Warren, Haileybury, Sault Ste. Marie and finally North Bay. She taught at the old Queen Victoria Public (corner of Worthington & Ferguson) and Dr. McDougall Schools. BABIASCH, Josef - Much loved husband and father born December 14, 1913 in Austria, emigrated to Canada in 1952 and passed away on October 24, 2008. GROVER, Jane - Died at Hotel Dieu Rehabilitation Hospital on St. Catharines on Friday, October 24, 2008. Jane was born in 1924 in Vienna, Austria, went to school in England where she lived for 18 years and had her four children. She moved to Canada in 1956, first to Toronto and then to Vineland, Ontario in 1989 with her dearly beloved husband Harold Grover, who predeceased her. Beautiful, elegant, warm and loving, Jane lived an independent life with courage and dignity despite battling progressive chronic pain for many years. Her children were the centre of Jane's life. Predeceased by her adored youngest daughter Michele Scarff, she will be lovingly remembered by her children, Elisabeth Scarff, Christine Vitovitch (and her partner Steve Gould) and Armand Scarff, as well as her grandsons Michael Lewis and Andrew Scarff and her great grandchildren, Michael Ryan and Brooklyn Lewis. She also will be missed by her friends, especially her dear friend Audrey Levtov. Jane was predeceased by her beloved sister Liesl. At Jane's request there will be no service and there will be a private cremation.
