Loving mother of Dave and his wife Lorraine, and Karen and her husband Perry Taylor. Proud Gran of Michael, Kevin, Katelyn, Julia and Andrew. Dear sister of Evelyn, Maura, and the late MaryAnne, Katie, Coley, Michael, Aina, Sean and Bridget. Sister-in-law of Phyllis. MacMILLAN, Eva 2008-10-22 Eva (King) MacMillan (1922-2008) We sadly announce the death of Eva who passed away peacefully on Thursday October 16th at Trillium Health Centre in Mississauga. She was predeceased by her husband Malcolm ( Scotty) MacMillan. Eva is survived by daughters Suzanne and Marianne (Mike), grandchildren Tessa, Zachary,Leah, Malcolm, Jackson, Jenna, Jillian and great grandchild Marshal. Eva was a longtime member of the Catholic Women’s League at St. Andrew’s Church in Thunder Bay Ontario. She worked at Port Arthur Shipbuilding Co. and Cochrane Hardware Ltd. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed. MARKOWICZ, Issie. 1944-2008. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished husband, loving father, doting Grandpa, uncle, great-uncle and friend. Issie passed away far too young on October 21 at the age of sixty-four. He is survived by his wife Eta, children Joanna (Lou Siciliani) and Jeffrey (Carol Lyn Colon), adoring grandchildren Zachary and Alexandra, parents Morris and Masha and sister Rita Shtull. Issie will be fondly remembered for his love of preparing family feasts, poker, politics, reading and avoiding the outdoors at all costs. JOHNSTON, George Robert - Passed away peacefully, with his immediate family by his side, at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, on Thursday October 16th, 2008, in his 73rd year. George, beloved husband of Cecile for twenty years. Loving father of David Johnston of Toronto, Cathy Johnston (Frank) of Collingwood. Dear grandpa of George, Jeremy and Troy. Il laisse dans le deuil son fils, Marcel Gagnon (Huguette), de Rivière-du-Loup, QC; sa fille, Colette Lavoie (Bert), d'Edmundston; ses frères, Adrien Gagnon (Lucille), d'Edmundston, de même que sa soeur, Juliette Fournier (ami Roger), de St-Jacques. Ses funérailles ont eu lieu le 9 octobre, à 11 heures, en la cathédrale de l'Immaculée-Conception d'Edmundston, et l'inhumation au cimetière paroissial. Geraldine will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. She was a longtime member of Holy Rosary Church in Thorold and was proud of her Acadian Heritage. REED, Barbara Joyce - Barb Reed of Meaford, and formerly of Toronto, passed away peacefully at her residence in Meaford on Saturday, October 18, 2008 in her 81st year. Barb will be remembered by her family and many good friends as a warm and witty lover of words, mysteries and music, and a consummate storyteller. Barb was born in Toronto, a daughter of the late James and Wilma Catherine (née Saint) Bateman. She is remembered as the loving mother and grandmother of Tom Reed and his wife Shelagh and their children Connor and Sara of Saskatoon, Bill Reed and his wife Karen of Toronto, and Dan Reed and his wife Moonok and their children Hana and Narae of Ottawa. Barb was predeceased by her brother Lew Bateman (late Mary) of Toronto, and by her sister, Margaret “Peggy“ Neale (late Roy) of Meaford, and she will be fondly remembered as a dear aunt by her several nieces and nephews and their families. BARTOSZEWICZ, Walter 2008-10-21 Mr. Walter Bartoszewicz age 93 years passed away on October 16, 2008. Walter was born in Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1951 with his wife Sonja, son Dieter and daughter Monika. Walter found employment with UGG and retired from there in 1980. Walter enjoyed camping, travelling and gardening but his family by far was most important to him. Walter was predeceased by his wife Sonny, daughter Monika Appel-Miller and daughter-in-law Bev Grandt. BEGAY, Sophie 2008-10-21 Sophie Begay, who resided at Hogarth-Riverview Manor (Willow), passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 19, 2008 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Slater, Manitoba on April 1, 1918. Sophie attended local schools and as a young lady moved to Thunder Bay where she met and married Peter Begay on June 23, 1945. During WWII she worked as a “Rosie the Riveter” at Canada Car. They had one son Donald in 1948. Sophie was a devout church attendee. In Thunder Bay she and her family attended the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Ascension. Sophie was very active in church activities and served in various positions on the executive of the church committee and the Women‘s Club. She also helped to make many, many pyrohy at the Star Hall. Sophie went back to school and became a RNA or Registered Nursing Assistant, working for many years on the Pediatric Ward of McKellar Hospital. Sophie is survived by her son Donald, sister Anne (Sister Miriam Charles), her special friend Marie Babin and nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Peter, parents Peter and Mary Cismistruk, brothers John, Walter and Metro. Funeral services for Sophie will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 when family and friends will gather for Liturgy in the Ukrainian Catholic Church of Ascension at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Orest Ostopovich. Interment will follow at Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. Panachyda will be offered on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in Blake Funeral Chapel. If friends desire, memorials to the Alzheimer Society or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Mrs. Sophie Begay in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 29, 2008.

Susan died very peacefully and with great dignity, leaving behind the love of her life Jimbear (James Gordon Connell). Susan was predeceased by her mother Grace (Harbottle) and her father Wells Ritchie. She will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, all her extended family and friends.
