KUHN, Geraldine Joan (nee Hayes) September 7 1944 - June 7 2008 Gerry passed away suddenly after a short battle with cancer on June 7, 2008 at the Royal Jubilee hospital in Victoria B.C. Gerry was born and raised in Brantford Ontario. In 1965 she graduated St. Joseph's Nursing School as an R.N. in Hamilton ON. After graduation she worked in several acute care hospitals in Brantford ON, Kitchener ON, and in Guelph ON. Gerry and her family lived in Guelph ON, and in Chatham ON where she served 20 years with the Thamesview Lodge. In 1993 she completed her B.Sc.N from the University of Windsor. In 2002 Gerry moved to Qualicum Beach B.C. and worked at the Trillium Lodge in Parksville B.C. Gerry retired in 2002 and became an active volunteer with the Oceanside Hospice Society and Poca a Poca Services Society. Gerry was an avid golfer. She was an active member of Pheasant Glen Women's Golf Club. Gerry is survived by her devoted and loving husband Richard of 38 years, son Allan, daughter MaryBeth - MaryBeth's husband Drazen , and her two grandchildren Tomas and Adam. She is also survived by her mother Marion Bradley Hayes of Brantford ON. Gerry was the kindest person in this world and she will be deeply missed. Partner of Leo (Bill) Marcoux and wife of the late Alex Lachance and the late Marcial Barnes. Loving mother and best friend of Eileen Falcioni (Ken) of Sault Ste. Marie, Carolyn Sheehan, Marilyn Lachance both of Toronto, Patricia Lachance (Marc Renaud) of Calgary, and Claudette Lachance (Michael Fraser) of Woodstock. Beloved stepmother of Helen Chiocchio (Nick) of Stratford, Theresa Clayton (Vic) of Cambridge and Wayne Barnes (Pat) of Espanola. Predeceased by her parents Alfred and Rose Sauvé, son Fernand Lachance, stepson Donald Barnes, grandson Brett Lachance, and great- granddaughter Makena Jackman. Grandma of 18 grandchildren, 26 great-granchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Survived by sisters Levina Masters, Edesse Verdone, and Jeannette Sorokopud all of Sault Ste. Marie. Predeceased by brothers Adrien, Fernand, Elie, and Edward. A prayer service was held in Woodbridge on May 19. OBITUARY ROBIN WORTHINGTON FAWCETT It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robin on June 5, 2008. Encapsulating in a few words who Robin was is hard to do. She lived in so many different worlds and touched so many different people. We will remember her as forever youthful, forever enthusiastically starting new projects. Robin was an adventurer, a reader, a photographer, an avid tennis player and skier, a lover of music and the arts, an intellectual, an inventor of games, a researcher and a writer, a loyal friend. She was serious about the things she felt were important, yet she loved to have fun. She was vehemently anti-ageist and an ardent feminist, but she was never a joiner or a follower. Whatever she did she did with passion and engagement, and always found an angle that others might not see. Perhaps it was her wild and nomadic childhood that let Robin invent herself. It certainly taught her that there was no one way to do things. Robin was a wonderful mother - creative and playful, someone who really listened and provided comfort and support. Mum was also always ready to break rules, for which we are forever grateful. She gave us so much, and will be profoundly missed by her children Linnet (Rona) and Matthew (Montse). She leaves a deep gap in the lives of her grandsons Alexis and Liam, to whom she was devoted and whose company gave her so much joy. Robin also leaves her brother Pete (her first best friend and lifelong political opponent) and his wife Yvonne and their children. Robin had an amazing ability to rise to the occasion, which she did countless times during her final weeks - most notably throughout a last visit with her beloved in-laws Charles, Caroline, Ben and Jenn, when we came together after the sudden passing of our dad, John. She hated to let go - Robin had so much more living left to do - but in the end she died peacefully at home with her children and her dog, Tati, by her side. In the course of this tough year, we've been overwhelmed by the incredible generosity and kindness of Robin's friends and neighbours. Thank you. We have also realized the importance of the public services offered around palliative care - in Robin's case, through St. Mary's Hospital, the CLSC-NDG, and NOVA. In lieu of flowers, donations in support of any of the excellent groups working in this area would be appreciated. Albert "Al" J. Gay 1910 - 2008 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Albert "Al" J. Gay at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, June 9th 2008. Husband of Beloved Wife Evelyn "Ev" Gay, Al was 98 years old. He was the son of the late Howard and Minerva (Crawford) Gay, and is predeceased by a sister, Mina. Albert was born and grew up in Shediac, then moved to Moncton where he worked at Eaton's for five years & Colpitts The Stationer for 27 years, driving the delivery truck as well as many other duties. He picked up French just by playing with the children. He was self taught musically and learned to play the guitar, piano and his favorite, the drums. He played in several different orchestras until he was 85 years old, and at one time had his own radio program which he received many fan letters from. His last thirty years, he lived at "Peoples Park Tower" where he also enjoyed working with the administrators to help make it a better place for all. He was a loving kind and caring man, and gave much of himself to others. He leaves behind to morn his Beloved Wife Evelyn "Ev" and Best Friend of 68 years, sons; William J. "Bill" Gay, Brian J. Gay, both of Moncton, daughters; Barbara (J. Harold Joyce) Ottawa, ON, Brenda, his 24 hour Nurse, Moncton, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren. At this time, we would like to extend our deepest thanks to all our Extra Mural Nurses, who always went above and beyond for Al, thanks also to our angel's in Palliative Care at The Moncton Hospital & his #1 care giver, Audrey Fox for her excellent care. CARLESIMO, Luigi April 6, 1953 - June 9, 2008 Luigi Carlesimo, husband of Susan Carlesimo of Calgary, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 9, 2008 at the age of 55 years. Luigi was born in Sezze, Latina, Italy and immigrated to Canada with his family in October 1964. He attended school in Calgary and graduated from St. Francis High School. Luigi attended S.A.I.T. where he received his Journeyman automotive certificate. He later began his own business in Westward Ho which he operated for sixteen years. Luigi began working with Canadian Tire in 1993 where he was employed until his passing. Luigi's passion was flying and received his pilot's license thirty years ago. Besides his loving wife Susan, Luigi is also survived by his family Christopher Carlesimo and Desiree of Penticton; Steve and Karla Carlesimo and Stephanie Ng, all of Calgary; three grandsons Jacob, Corben and Carter. He is also survived by his mother Maria Carlesimo of Calgary; sister and brother-in-law, Giulia and Joe Nicoletti of Calgary and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins in Canada and Italy. He was predeceased by his father Sante Carlesimo. Gordon Charest The death of Gordon Charest of Lorne occurred Sunday, June 01, 2008 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 72. Born in Maltais, he was the son of the late Alex Charest and Donia (Duguay). ASHMEAD, Erma Doreen (nee Cleveland) December 21, 1928 - June 4, 2008 On the morning of June 4 our precious Erma, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend stepped onto a golden sunbeam to rest in eternal peace with the Lord. She passed softly after courageous battles with Alzheimer's and lung cancer at the age of 79 years. Our beautiful girl was adored in life by her family: husband of nearly fifty-seven years Norm, son Ken (Carmen), daughter Cheryl (Doug) Garratt and her precious granddaughter Kerry. She will also be greatly missed by two special pets Shane and Safari. Erma was the loving daughter of the late Anne and Bill Cleveland and sister to Moyra (Jim) Walton. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Erma Doreen Cleveland was born on December 21, 1928 in Calgary and educated at Haultain, Sunalta, Mt. Royal and Western Canada schools. She was a true, proud native Calgarian and Albertan. Many of Erma's favourite friendships developed during her early years as a ledger keeper for the Bank of Toronto. This was followed shortly thereafter by a brief stint with local veterinarian, Dr. Catley, which proved a most appropriate tenure for Erma in fostering her amazing love for all animals, big and small. One day at church choir, a young gent named Norm, caught her big brown eyes. "He seemed more sensible than the others", she would later proclaim. The two were married amidst a thunderous hailstorm on June 15, 1951 at Knox Presbyterian Church. The essence of Erma's life was her family and she excelled as a caregiver. Family times were enjoyed for many years, traveling to and from Mara Lake and the little red caboose in the Kootenays. A trip to the mall typically resulted in buying something, usually turquoise in color. Erma never met a crossword puzzle she did not like or could not solve and mornings often began with this ritual. Her passion for reading the newspaper and Harlequin romances contributed to her sharp wit and brilliant intellect. "Possessing a sense of humour is important in life", she would often say and had a great memory for jokes. Bowling also served as a favourite pastime and her love and appreciation for beautiful flowers was legendary. Her door and gardens were always open to friends and neighbours who called. Erma believed one should never miss an opportunity to do something nice for others and she gave of herself to everyone she knew. She was loved by all for her kindness and devotion. Known for her radiant smile, gentle disposition and elegant manners she was truly a special lady. Our darling Erma was the light of our lives and her loving heart bound our family together. We will treasure her memory forever and honour her legacy always. May God Bless you. Love you lots. Bye for now.
