GOSSELIN, Laurier - Mr. Laurier Gosselin passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at the Kirkland & District Hospital at the age of 84 years. Laurier was born on September 27, 1923 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He married his wife Alphonsine of 62 years on November 12, 1945 in Rouyn, Quebec. Together they lived in Larder Lake from 1946 to 2006 and then moved to Kirkland Lake. He was predeceased by his parents; son Pierre and his sister and brother. Laurier is survived by his wife Alphonsine; sons Roger (Sue) of St. John, New Brunswick, Donald (Lorraine) of Larder Lake, Raymond (Anita) of Yellowknife and Guy of Sudbury and daughter Carmen (Reg) Beaudoin of Kirkland Lake. He will be fondly remembered by his 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Laurier is also survived by his brother Normand (Priscilla) and nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held in the “Teck-Hughes“ Chapel of the Monette & French Funeral Home on Monday, November 12, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Laurier will be laid to rest in the Kirkland Lake Cemetery. JUDGE, HARRY (JUDD) WILFRED - The death of Harry (Judd) Wilfred Judge, loving husband of Barbara (Melanson) Judge, occurred on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1919 in Bridgewater, NS he was the son of the late Morris and Sadie (Mosher) Judge. Judd was a Veteran of WWII serving overseas in Germany, Italy and Holland with the Carlton York Regiment. He worked at the Atlantic Sugar Refinery for 40 years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter in his earlier years. Besides his loving wife he is survived by daughters, Colleen Hood (David) of Saint John and Cathy Williams (David Doyle) of Saint John; grandchildren, Julie, Lori, Kristy (Mike), Tara and John (Susan); and one great grandchild, Tyler; brothers, Robert Judge (Edna) of Saint John and Clinton LeRoy Judge (Elsie) of Texas; sisters, Frances Grant, Doreen Lawton and Sybil all of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. SHAW, Edith Juel (nee Miller) Edith (Edie) Shaw passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 3, 2007 in the Arbour Lake home she shared with her daughter and grandchildren, Lisa, Tyler and Adriana. Edith was 79. Edith was born at Gull Lake, Alberta on February 2, 1928. Being married to an Air Force husband, she and the family moved to many places throughout North America for many years, finally settling in Calgary, Alberta in 1975. She began canvas painting while living in California, and after settling in Calgary, she took up china painting including teaching. She also taught her granddaughters, Bonnie and Tracey, the joy of china painting. She enjoyed activities with the Oil Wives Club of Calgary and recently attended a conference with them. For a number of years she enjoyed skiing, golfing, curling and bowling and was an avid bridge player. Edith participated in the Miller Family Golf Tournament almost every year since its inception. She is a season's ticket holder at Stage West which she attended with two of her daughters, Lisa and Diane. Edith loved going out for dinner and had plans to attend the birthday celebration of her daughter, Dana, on the day of her death. Edith was predeceased by her husband, Melvin; her sisters Beatrice, Elaine, Leola; her brothers Ivan, Lyle, Mervin, Wayne. Edith has four daughters, Diane, Dana, Marnie, and Lisa; eight grandchildren Tracey, Doug, Chris, Shannon, Michael, Bonnie, Tyler, and Adriana; and two great-grandchildren, Sydny and Anna. Edith will be missed by many family and friends, and in particular her sister and best friend, Joyce Trynchuk and her family John, Pam, Randy and Brenda, with whom she spent many pleasant weekends in Lacombe, Alberta. MAHANEY, MARION (COLES) - The passing of Marion Mahaney (Coles), aged 97 occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, November 8th, 2007. Born in Brooklyn, Newfoundland; relocated to Saint John with her family at age 5. She is predeceased by her husband, Cecil Roy Mahaney; her parents Minnie and Job Coles; and two sisters, Lillian Brown and Carrie Morrow. She was a sister-in-law to the World Famous Mahaney Quadruplets, born on Christmas Day at home in 1923. She had previously worked at Manchester/Robertson/Allison (MRA's) Department Store as a seller, buyer and supervisor of the linen department. She loved to learn and prided herself in leading her class every school year with her lowest mark being 98. Two days before passing she could still recite poems, name all the counties of New Brunswick, and say the alphabet backwards; a true inspiration to us all. A diabetic for 62 years, her health battles were often great, but she never gave up. Even after she became blind she retained her wonderful sense of humor. She is survived by her 3 daughters; Marilyn Rodgerson and husband Peter, Frances Levesque, and Norma Wilson and her husband Lawrence with whom she lived with; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, nieces and nephews.
