YEUNG, Gerald Z.D. January 27, 1974 - October 26, 2007 Gerald Z.D. Yeung, beloved son/brother of the Yeung's of Calgary, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2007 at the age of 33 years. Gerald was a passionate perfectionist who earned his degree in Electrical Engineering from the U of C. With a zest for life, a twinkle in his eye and a prank often at hand, Gerald was known to his friends as someone they could rely on. Like most young men, he loved fast cars, attractive women and good friends. At the beginning of a life full of promise and potential, Gerald sustained a traumatic brain injury in a motor vehicle accident. He was left with a bright mind trapped in a broken body. He endured and persevered in the face of extreme adversity. Along this journey, many people came and went, all of whom gave a piece of themselves to him or his family to sustain them on their passage. Even with such a marathon of endurance, one could still see the twinkle in his eye. His last six months were ones filled with laughter and a sense of serenity, as if he finally achieved some secret goal, unknown to the rest of us. He left us peacefully, knowing he was dearly loved and not alone. HAMILL, Doris Mary Paul - Mom, the love you've given is a precious gift that will last a lifetime. BOES, Arnold A. - It is with sadness the family of Arnold's announce his death on Sunday, October 28th, 2007 at the Trenton Memorial Hospital, in his 84th year. Arnold will be missed by his niece Bev Sherwin (Dave) of Peterborough, and nephew Ron (Lynda) of Humboldt, Tennessee, and their families Lisa O'Leary (Dan) of Port Hope, Janet VanAllen (Darcy) of Lindsay, and Kristin Boes of Tupelo, Mississippi. Arnold is predeceased by his parents Jacob and Edith Boes, and his siblings Lillian, Irene, Grace, Ed, and Doris, and his sister-in-law Frances. Arnold leaves behind his dear friends Jack Edmonds and Lloyd Simpson. DION, Glenn - It is with deep regret that we announce the sudden passing of Glenn Barry Dion on Sunday, October 28, 2007 in his 54th year. Cherished by his loving partner Tammy Rowe, Glenn leaves behind three sons Christopher, Barry and David and granddaughter Daniella. Survived by his mother Dolores May and predeceased by his father Conrad Dion and his step-father Lorne May. Glenn will be deeply missed by siblings; Michael (Nicole), Christine (Terry) Greenhalgh, Jackie Gare, Richard (Shawna), Gary (Linda), Shelley Dion, Sandra (Greg) Lattimer, Patrick (Connie), Kelly Dion and Paula Secord. He will be fondly remembered by Adam Rowe, Sandy (Chris) Tew, Marcy (Brian) Heit, Patti (Dave) Elliott, Gary Molloy, Debbie (Ken) Harder and many nieces and nephews. A trusted companion of “Mickey“, he was a member of the local 666 Pipe Fitters Union for twenty-five years. Glenn enjoyed the outdoors and was a Harley enthusiast. McBRIDE, Gene - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gene McBride on Sunday, the 28th of October, at home with family by his side, ending a courageous battle with cancer. Gene was a retired teacher. He taught at Merritton High School and Kernahan Park H.S. He was active in sports and ran an Outdoors Club for many years. He was a dedicated member of Grace Anglican Church. Gene was an active volunteer and was known by all for his willingness to help. He is remembered by everyone who knew him as a strong man with a gentle soul. He is survived by his wife Ruth, his two daughters, Kathryn (Rolf) and Karyn, and his four grandchildren: Evan, Hayden, Alyssa and Connor. NORMAN SINCLAIR - 1920-2007 - Passed away at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, on Monday, October 29, 2007, at age 87. Born in Welland, Ontario, Norm joined the RCAF in 1941 serving as a Hurricane fighter pilot in Scotland, and a dive bomber pilot with 82 Squadron in India from 1943-1945.He is a holder of the Burma Star. He returned to Canada and attended McMaster University and re-enlisted in 1952. After serving 20 years in the Air Force, he retired to become a teacher at St. David's in Waterloo and finally, at Brisbane Public School in Erin. He enjoyed an active retirement, golfing at Conestoga Golf and Country Club, and travelling regularly to Florida, Mexico, and England to visit relatives and friends. He will be missed. Beloved husband of Gladys for 35 years; loved father of Greg and Debbie, Norman Jr., Cathie and Mike; loving grandfather of Chris, Nick, and Doug; dear brother of Janet, brother-in-law of Norman and Chris, Doris and Bernie, and Emil and Marion. Predeceased by his brother, Alex and sister, Evelyn, and brother-in-law, Ernesto. CHERNISH, Aline Patricia - March 17, 1928 - October 28, 2007. Aline was married to Howard Chernish on June 29, 1946 and, together (for 61 years), they raised four children. She was predeceased by Howard by merely one week. Aline is survived by their Children Alex (Jane), Karen, Brian (Holly), and Bill (Laura), several Grandchildren/Great Grandchildren, many Nieces, Nephews, and her Brothers Ernie & Joe Newburgh. Aline was pre-deceased by her Mother (Aline Delia Newburgh/Poirer, nee Pelletier: Feb. 08, 1890 - Aug. 31, 1964), Father (Fritz Frederick Newburgh, a.k.a. Nieuwenburg: May 27, 1881 - Sept. 1953), Sister (Doreen MacLeod), and Brothers (Fred; Harold, KIA-WWII; Bill; and Step-Brothers Aime; Hector and Rudy.) A long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion; Aline will be missed by her fellow members, as well as by her extensive Family and Friends from the Welland area, as well as Brooksville, Florida; Amsterdam, Holland; and in the Lake District of England. Cremation and a Private Family Service have taken place, and a Celebration of Aline's Life will be hosted by her children at Little Nashville (77 E. GABOR, Jean - Mrs. Jean (Nanny/Sweetie) Gabor of Welland passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 29, 2007 at the Welland Hospital. BOURGEOIS, Freda (1927 - 2007) Co-Founder of BouClair House of Fabrics and Freda's Sewing Services Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Friend Peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday, October 28, 2007. Freda lived, laughed and loved throughout her life. She spent her life giving to others. She was loved and cherished by many and will be deeply missed by her husband of 58 years, Matt, by her children Paulette and Cheryl, by her son-in-law Tim and by her precious grandchildren Natalie and Gordon Urquhart. In her lifetime, Freda affected the lives of many. She was passionate about making a difference; she contributed to social programs around the world; she was a leader, a teacher, an entrepreneur, a philanthropist and an inspiration. HALL, Anthony V. 1920 - 2007 Unexpectedly, on Friday, October 26, 2007, in hospital surrounded by his loving family. Tony was the beloved husband of Laurel (Argue), cherished father of Diana and Jana (Del MacMillan), devoted grandfather and special friend of Nancy (Chad Mariage). Dear brother-in-law of Ruth (Argue). For the past 10 months, Jana and Del were privileged to have Tony in their family home, with Nancy as his wonderful caregiver. Laurel, Diana, Del, Ruth, Chad and Lynne were always willing to lend a helping hand. Tony served in the Royal Air Force during World War II in England and Phoenix, Arizona, where he met and married Laurel in 1944. After immigrating to Canada in 1947, Tony worked for the Department of National Defence and the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada. On retirement, he founded the Ottawa Valley Clock Service, repairing and restoring antique clocks. Tony was widely known as the "Tic Toc Doc". He was a long-time member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, Inc. Many thanks to Avan and Cecilia for their loving care. Special thanks to Dr. Barry Bruce for his extraordinary care and to the West Carleton Medical Centre staff for their kindness.
