Walter Hill It is with deep sadness, the family announces the peaceful passing of Walter Hill, on October 29th, 2007 at the Donwood Manor at the age of 83 years. Wally will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Hilda; children, Judy, Ken (Shirley), Ruth (Ken); grandchildren, Don, Michael, Kelly, Mandy, Amber, Ashley and Kyle. Walter is predeceased by his parents, Martha and John; his brothers, Tom and Fred and sister Margaret. At the age of 17, Dad enlisted in the RCAF, serving as an aircraft mechanic from 1941 to 1945. Once the war ended, he returned to his trade as a printer in the envelope industry working for the same company for 49 years. He retired from DRG Globe Envelopes in 1989. After retirement, he enjoyed his hobbies of hunting and fishing. His real passion was building and flying radio controlled model aircraft with the Saints R/C Flying Club, where he enjoyed the fellowship of many good friends. Dad was a devoted family man, who was always there for family and friends. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Donwood Manor Personal Care Home for their care and support of Dad over the last year. LAFLEUR, Doris Katherine (nee Cockerill) - Suddenly at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, Burlington, on Sunday, October 28, 2007, at the age of 78. Born April 1st, 1929 in Peterborough, Ontario, the daughter of Alan Edward Cockerill and Dorothy Cockerill (nee Hopcroft). Survived and loved by her 6 children, Bill (Linda), Adrienne Brown, Paul (Allison), Sue (Brigitte), Cindy and Ron (Tina), along with her 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends. Predeceased by her long term companion Therese Marie Proteau (September 14, 2007), brothers Ray and Jack Cockerill, and survived by her sisters Annie Leeper and Dawn Cockerill and brothers Frank (Pat) and Alan (Barb) Cockerill. Mom lived and long and enjoyable life; she was the Minister of Finance and the Commanding General of our family. She was happiest in the kitchen, loved music, singing and dancing and was very outgoing with a fantastic sense of humour. Mom's health deteriorated over the last few years, especially since September 14, 2007. A celebration of her life will take place at The Burlington Community Church of the Salvation Army, 2090 Prospect Street, Burlington, on Friday, November 2nd, 2007 at 2:00 p.m., with internment immediately following at Trafalgar Law Cemetery, Dundas Street West at Neyagawa Boulevard, Oakville, with a reception at 5:00 p.m. at 1020 North Shore Boulevard East, Burlington. CONROY, ALICE ANDREA (NEE HEBB) It is with great love her family said farewell to Alice Andrea Conroy (nee Hebb) of Fredericton on October 27, 2007. Loving wife of Gerald Conroy, adored mother of Bernie, Edith (Notley) and her husband Ross, Mary, Elizabeth and her husband Michael Francis and Andrea (Fournier) and her husband Dan. Gentle grandmother to Ryan, Jordan, Matthew, Laura, Stephen, Lauren, Gillian, John and Alice. She is survived by her sisters Helen McKinstry, Elizabeth Bright, and Charlene Langille, her brothers George, Hugh and Fred Hebb. At the Nova Scotia Hospital she became a Registered Nurse, and later worked in Hospitals in Nova Scotia, Ontario and Quebec. In a loving home she and Gerry raised their five children in Quebec and New Brunswick. With pride her family recalls her many accomplishments, among them her successful completion of her B.A. from St. Thomas University in 1996. She taught us to dance to the music, encouraged us to never tire of learning and surrounded us with the security of knowing we are loved. Born in Sussex on September 17, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Myrtle (Anderson) Mullin and the wife of the late William MacNeill who passed away in 1995. Mary is survived by three daughters: Lynne Brown (Laurie) of Brentwood Bay, BC, Dawn Dunfield (Leonard) of Portagevale and Chris Bell (Wayne) of Penobsquis; a special daughter; Marilyn Michaud (Steve) of Smith Creek; three sons; Reg of Fox Hill, Neil (Pam) of Manitoba Rd. and Charles (Christiane) of Montreal, Quebec, 14 grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Tanya MacNeill of Sussex; her brother, Wayne Miller (Esther) of O'Leary, PEI; as well as, several nieces and nephews. FRIESEN, Elma (nee Reimer) January 23, 1927 - October 27, 2007 Elma Friesen (nee Reimer) of Calgary passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at the age of 80 years. Elma was born on January 23, 1927 in Gnadenfeld Village, MB near Gretna, MB to Kathrina and John Reimer. She married Isaac (Ike) Friesen, her husband of fifty-three years on October 30, 1947. Elma took her nurses training in Winnipeg, MB working for Cowin Steel as a bookkeeper and resided there until they relocated to Calgary in December of 1996. Elma and Ike were members of the Hong Kong Veterans Association and maintained close friendships with the Winnipeg Veterans' and their wives. Elma and Ike enjoyed their vacations in Hawaii and then Weslaco, TX. She loved sewing and knitting for her daughter and grandchildren. Elma is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Nancie and Ronald Ambrozy; and two grandchildren Kristin and Adam, all of Calgary. She is also survived by her brothers Stan, Ed, and Jake Reimer. Joyce worked for AGT in Calgary for several years until her retirement to Yahk, BC where she made a home for herself and her four legged friends. Her dream was to spend her retirement in the country and she accomplished that dream. DEKKER, Krista Marie - Peacefully entered into the arms of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Friday, October 26th 2007 at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance surrounded by her loving family and friends at the age of 27. Krista courageously journeyed through Huntington's disease and was a teacher to us all. She is survived by her loving father, Jack Dekker (Paincourt) and predeceased by her dear mother, Jenny Dekker (nee Zantingh) (1990). Forever missed by her loving and supportive sisters, Janice Dekker (Paincourt) and her fiancé Paul Seney (Leamington) and Angela Dekker (Paincourt). GRAY, Reid Haldon January 6, 1932 - October 24, 2007 Reid Gray, beloved husband of Margaret, father of Laura, and father-in-law of Craig, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at the age of 75 years, following a brave struggle with heart problems. Reid was born and raised in Woodstock, New Brunswick, where he graduated from high school. He attended Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, earning Degrees in Math and Geology in 1953. From there he set out to see the world, starting in Western Canada in the geophysical industry, which became his lifelong career. He got as far as Alberta where he met and married Margaret Tumoth in 1955. Reid's work took the young couple to the Southern U.S. where Laura was born. The family spent time in Cuba, Chile, Indonesia, and Singapore before returning to Calgary in 1976. At that time, Reid joined Petro Canada where he worked until his retirement in 1990. He never lost his understanding of or feeling for work in the field. Retirement brought new interests in golf and travel. Reid and Margaret enjoyed visits home to New Brunswick, winter trips to Arizona and North Carolina, and longer excursions to Australia, South East Asia, and Africa. He was a man with a wonderful sense of humour and a sense of fairness to all. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Margaret and daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Craig; as well as many other relatives and friends. Reid was predeceased by his parents Laura and Haldon Gray. Edith McNally 1920-2007 Au Manoir Victoria Glen de Perth-Andover, le 23 octobre 2007, à l'âge de 86 ans, est décédée Edith McNally, épouse de feu Havelock McNally, domiciliée à Perth-Andover. Née à Plaster Rock en 1920, elle était fille de feu Smith Ashford et de feu Annie Cottrell. Elle laisse dans le deuil deux filles, Marlene Plant (Gary) de la Floride et Cyrena McNally de la Caroline du Nord, deux fils, Hazen (Carolyn) de Tilley et Leo (Wilhelmina) de Moncton, sept petits-enfants, dix arrière-petits-enfants, trois frères, Steve Ashford de Saint John, Jim et Bill Ashford de Plaster Rock, trois soeurs, Shirley Francis de Saint John, Etta Parsons (Max) et Carol Ann Mahaney (Marvin) de Plaster Rock, ainsi que des neveux et nièces. Ses funérailles ont eu lieu le samedi 27 octobre à 15h au salon Guy O'Regan de Grand-Sault. Le célébrant était le pasteur Kevin Kierstead. LAFLÈCHE, Edna (née Spencer) 1919- 2007 - Peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the West Nipissing General Hospital, Sturgeon Falls, Saturday October 27, 2007, at the age of 88 years. Daughter of the late Louis and of the late Annie (née Burns) Spencer. Wife of the late Simon Laflèche (1997). Devoted mother of Bob (Millie) of Peterborough, Len, Deanna (Bruce), Brian (Lorraine), Frances (Bruce), Jocelyn (Guy), Gisèlle (Paul), Dan, David (Rachelle) all of Sturgeon Falls, Shirley (Gilles) of Sudbury, Joan (Brian) of Oshawa, Monique (Art) of Ottawa and Anne Marie (Glen) of St-Catharines. She will be sadly missed by her 27 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Predeceased by her brothers Raymond, McCarthy, Frank, Lorne and sister Annie. Lovingly remembered by her sister Elaine Ferrill and her many nieces and nephews. Edna was a charter member of the CWL and contributed generously of her time to many organizations in the community. O'DONNELL, ALICE MARY (SAUNDERS) The passing of Alice Mary (Saunders) O'Donnell, wife of the late Walter Tennison O'Donnell, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Saturday, October 27, 2007. Born on June 27, 1945, she was a daughter of the late John and Marjorie (Greene) Saunders. Alice is survived by two sons, Michael O'Donnell of Carroll's Crossing, NB, and John O'Donnell of Carroll's Crossing NB; two daughters, Sandra (Tony) O'Donnell of Bettsburg, NB and Kimberley O'Donnell of Carroll's Crossing; two brothers, Thomas (Denise) Saunders of Cameron, ON and Robert (Claudette) Saunders of Fredericton, NB; four sisters, Edith (Ted) Wilkinson and Barbara (Albert) Banks, both of Fredericton, NB, Hazel (Allen) Amos of Ontario and Vivian (Alphie) Saunders; grandchildren, Michael, Chantel and Dillon. Roger Roy 1952 - 2007 Roger Roy, 55, of Riverview, NB, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born in Cocagne, NB, he was the son of the late Marie Young. Roger was an active member of the Victory Life Centre (Riverview) and worked for several years at the Atlantic Superstore (Riverview). He enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. Roger will be sadly missed by his very dear friend, Ginette Allain of St-Antoine and by his immediate family members; Jeanne (André) Vachet of Montreal, Ronald Roy of Cocagne, Normand Roy (Josette Goguen) of Cocagne, Maurice (Paulette) Roy of St-Louis-de-Kent, Phyllis Roy of Shediac, Clarence Young, Betty (Léo) Richard, Jim Young, John Young, all of Cocagne. He was predeceased by Eugene Roy. He is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. PARNAMAGI, Gwendolyn Mary “Gwen“ - Long time North Bay resident Gwen Parnamagi died peacefully at the Sudbury Memorial Hospital on Friday October 26th, 2007, following a brief illness. Gwen (nee Gilchrist) was the beloved wife of the late Aksel Parnamgi who predeceased her in 1995. The proud and loving mother of Tiina Mason and her husband Barry, of Amherst, New Hampshire, she will be lovingly remembered by her grandsons Jeffrey and Steven. Born November 23rd, 1926 at Parry Sound, Gwen was the daughter of the late Nobel & Helen “Nellie“ Gilchrist. She will be sadly missed by her sister Joan Massey of Huntsville, sisters in law Audrey Gilchrist and Bertha Tilt and her numerous nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her sisters Elizabeth, Verna and Helen, and brothers Anthony, Charles, Harvey, Stuart, Robert, Leonard and Joseph. A dedicated wife and mother Gwen had worked for the Bell Telephone Company as an operator. She was a nature lover at heart and thoroughly enjoyed living in her country home. Born in St George, NB, she was the daughter of the late Frank A. and Myrtle (Williamson) Trynor. She attended Dalhousie University and received a B SC from Mount Allison University. She worked in labs and taught school in both New Brunswick and Quebec. Eleanor will be sadly missed by her husband, Sewell, to whom she was a caring wife. She was predeceased by two brothers, George (Florence) and Donald Trynor; one sister, Frances (Alfred) Bowden. McRAE, Joyce Irene - Joyce's journey concluded on Saturday, October 20th at Linhaven in her 86th year from colon cancer. Comforting her in her last 24 hours, as in the previous months, were her daughter, Molly Clark and son-in-law Bob, her granddaughter, Brenna Clark and her husband Stuart Warren, all of St.Catharines; her granddaughter Adria Campbell and her husband Doug, of Niagara-on-the-Lake; her brothers, Ed Sherar and wife Maria, and Stan Sherar and wife Diane, and her sister, Marge McQuestion, all of Niagara Falls; and the wonderful, caring staff of Dalhousie House of Linhaven, who helped make her final days more endurable. She is also survived by three sons, Ron (Darlene) of Ottawa, Grant (Linda) of Kincardine, and Terry (Janet) of Whitby, a brother Ken Sherar (Doris), of Brampton, eight other grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren . Her final wish for departure was to be cremated, without ceremony, and her ashes scattered on Lake Eugenia, as were those of her husband Cecil, who pre-deceased her.
