HOLT, Aileen M. Peacefully, on May 24, 2007, at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, in her 86th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years William and her precious daughter Nancy. Loving mother of Adrienne Tees of St. Catharines and Philip Holt of Virginia. Sadly missed by sons-in-law Peter McQuillan of Dundas and David Tees; Leslie Meaux of Virginia; and by grandchildren Emily and David of Virginia; and Matthew, Aylish, and Taryn of Dundas. A registered nurse for over 30 years, Aileen touched countless lives, caring for all with diligence and enthusiasm. Born Aileen Quigley in Lakefield, Ont., she blended a loving sense of Irish humor with equal measures of persistence and tenacity. No challenge ever seemed to intimidate her. Aileen was an avid reader and traveler as well as a loyal friend. She played bridge with the same circle of friends for almost 50 years, and only days before her passing she talked of travel plans for the future. MARTIN, George - At the Sault Area Hospital (General Site) on Thursday, May 24, 2007. George Martin in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of Jean Martin and loving father of Wynne Lienhardt, Jeff (Jerelyn), Jim (Cathy) and the late Wayne and Brian Martin. George is survived by his brother Duncan (Sonny) Martin and his sister Gladys Friel. He was predeceased by two brothers and one sister. He will be particularly missed by his many grandsons, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. George was the owner and operator of Forde Lake Air Service for many years. He served with the Mounted Division or Metro Toronto Police Service and was a veteran of The Royal Canadian Airforce serving in England and Scotland during WWII. Also survived by many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins. Paul will be sadly missed by his many friends, business associates, golf buddies, neighbours, Bedford and Arnie. Paul was a partner in Trajan Publishing Corp. and spent most of his career in publishing, then returned back to his roots in accounting. BRYDON, The Rev. Dr. Douglas Alexander, BSA DD - Minister, Rotarian, community builder, arts patron, gardener and life-long learner. Douglas Brydon passed away at Southampton, on May 25, 2007, in his 96th year, after a long and fulfilling life. PORTER - Anne of Port Colborne passed away at the Port Colborne General Hospital on Friday May 25, 2007 in her 85th year. Beloved wife of the late George Porter (1989), loving mother of Phil (Leslie) Porter of Thorold, Patricia Porter, Dan (Wendy) Porter all of Toronto and Donald Porter of Port Colborne, dear grandmother of Jordan Porter, Patrick Stitt and Benjamin Porter. Also survived by several niece and nephews in Great Britain. Anne was predeceased by her parents and her brother Alfred Forster. She was a long term employee of the Port Colborne Public Library, a member of St. James and St. Brendan's Anglican Church since 1954 and was actively involved in all church activities. Anne volunteered at Arabella's Tea Room as well as many other charitable organizations. She was recognized numerous times for her volunteer work including the Order of Niagara (2007). Born in Welland, Jim remained a lifelong resident of the area. He was employed as a manager for the L.C.B.O. in various local communities. Jim had a great love of music. Elmer was the loving father of Joan Menard (Don) of North Bay, Ross Hughes (Maxine) of Powassan, Tim Hughes (Cori) of Powassan, Lynn Charbonneau (Andy) of Whitney, Lee Cotter (Clark) of Restoule and Gerald Hughes of North Bay. He was the proud grandfather of Jason (Amy) and Steven Menard, Travis Hughes, Brandon and Tyler Hughes, Adam and Stacey Cotter, Andrew and Kelli Charbonneau, Dylan and Madison Hughes, and great-grandfather of Lukas Menard, Conner and Carter Hughes. MARR, SHIRLEY MARGARET The passing of Shirley Margaret (Hale) Marr, wife of Cedric Neil Marr, of Fredericton, NB, occurred on May 24, 2007 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on December 13, 1929, in Fredericton, NB, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mabel (VanBuskirk) Hale. Shirley was a member of St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church. She was a former Girl Guides leader, a former member of the Nashwaaksis Y's Menettes, member of the Fredericton Senior Shuffle Board Club for which she was the club secretary as well as volunteering for the York Manor Auxiliary for 25 + years. Shirley loved playing cards, traveling across Canada and most of the United States in the R.V. and was an avid sports fan. Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Sharon Marr of Burns Lake, BC; one son, Stephen Marr (Deborah) of Calgary, AB; four grandchildren, Alicia Entz of Strathmore, AB, Ryan McMahon of Abbotsford, BC, Kyle McMahon of Burns Lake, BC and Caitlyn McMahon of Burns Lake, BC; 1 great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Adrian and Robert Hale. Visitation will be held from York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Saturday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at York Funeral Home's, T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, Fredericton, NB, on Sunday, May 27, 2007 at 2 pm with Canon Bill MacMullin officiating. Interment will take place at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church Cemetery. Reception to follow in the Church Hall. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. William is survived by his sister Margaret (Hegji), brother Donald, sister-in-laws; Azilda, Lil and Nan (Keith) Gibb of New Zealand. Beloved, ever remembered grandfather of Allan (Linsey), Jaclyn (Corey), Dustin (Lindsey), Kyle, Stacey, Robyn and Amanda. Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her first husband Robert Atkins (1993), her parents Ernie and Leona Henry and her brother Dale Henry (2001).Karen worked at Fort Erie Credit union for 32 years, retiring in December 2006, was a member and treasurer of Crystal Ridge Community Church and a member of Fort Erie Legion Branch 71.
