He was a Volunteer Firefighter with Protection Hose Company #1 and was employed with Fraser Paper Company for 28 years before retiring in 1981. Cremation has taken place. Il était l'époux bien-aimé de Vivian Furlotte, le fils de feu Gustave Duguay et de feu Rosa Cyr. Outre son épouse, il laisse ses 5 enfants: Ron (Fernande), Heather Ann, Susan (René), Kathleen (Danny) et Judy (Mathew); 6 petits-enfants: Philip, Jennifer (Cédric), Michael, Cindy, Sara et Zoé ainsi qu'une arrière-petite-fille Daphné. M. Duguay était retraité de la CIP de Gatineau et également de la compagnie Marman du Cap de la Madeleine. PYNE, OSWALD WILLIAM The death of Ossie Pyne of Quispamsis, NB, husband of the late Greta (Doherty) Pyne, occurred unexpectedly in his 90th year, on Monday, April 23rd, 2007, in Saint John, NB. Born in Chipman, NB, he was the son of the late Thomas and Edna (Murphy) Pyne. Ossie was a member of Rothesay Baptist Church, Branch # 58 of the Royal Canadian Legion and was a Veteran of WWII. Ossie is survived by three daughters, Elsie Hanson and her husband Ernie, Iris Down and her husband David, both of Quispamsis and Margo Lett and her husband Grady of Dartmouth, NS; one sister, Doris McInnis and her husband Fred of Chipman; nine grandchildren, Tracy Scott, Peter and Paul Hanson, Heather Haynes, Shane Tays, Joel and Stephanie Down, Kyral and Mia Lett; nine great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his wife, Greta and his parents, Ossie was also predeceased by one sister, Hazel Doherty; two brothers, Carl and Robert Pyne; two grandsons, Darren Hanson and Jason Lett. BROWN, Norma Shirley (nee Johnson). Very peacefully on April 20, 2007 aged seventy-nine years. Shirley was born in Montreal on October 26, 1927 and was predeceased by her loving husband and best friend Charles Knox Brown. She is survived by her adoring daughters Ann (Bill Ritchie) and Debra (Daniel Lessard). She will be sorely missed by her grandchildren Alexander and Darcy Ritchie, Christian and Charles-Adrian Lessard. She is also survived by her sister Jill Johnson of Toronto. BREWER, JEAN MARGARET The passing of Jean Margaret (Law) Brewer, of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Ray G. Brewer, occurred on Sunday, April 22, 2007 at York Manor Nursing Home. Born on October 15, 1921 in Gagetown, NB she was a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Hogg) Law. Jean was a member of St. Mary's Anglican Church and was a graduate of Victoria Public Hospital School of Nursing. She later retired from the V.O.N. Jean is survived by Beverly, Donald and Emily Hobbs, Sarah Black and cousins. There will be no visitation. A Requiem Mass will be held on Friday April, 27, 2007 at 11:00 from St. Mary's Anglican Church, McEvoy Street, Fredericton, followed by a reception in the church hall. PORTER, CHRISTIAN "MARGARET" - The death of Margaret Porter of Saint John, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on the April 23, 2007. Born in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late James W. and Annie (Hulme) McKenzie. For many years she had been employed with the Worker's Compensation Board of New Brunswick. She was a member of the Church of St. John and St. Clement (Mission Church), Parish of Millidgeville and the order of the Eastern Star Fundy Chapter #34. Margaret is survived by one sister Marion Titus of Sussex Corner, sisters in-law Doris and Angela McKenzie both of Saint John, one niece, Lori (John) Richardson of Saint John, two nephews David Titus of Sussex and Terrance MacKenzie of Saint John, several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers Samuel and John McKenzie, a sister Anita Johnson, two half brothers William and Delbert McKenzie, half sister Mabel Rooney and a nephew Philip Titus. At Margaret's request there will be no visitation and funeral service. HOWARD, RUTH Ruth Isobel was born on August 5, 1923 in Marysville, New Brunswick, the third of three children born to Percy and Edna Peterson. Ruth passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on April 20, 2007 at Vancouver General Hospital, after 10 weeks bravely fighting the affects of a continuously debilitating stroke. Ruth was predeceased by her eldest son, Carlyle in 1970. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Robert (Bob); son, Peter (Brenda); and daughters, Claudia (James) and Carol (Leo); and by her five adoring grandchildren, Blair, Cyan, Coco, Gregory, and Nicki. Ruth graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a degree in Marine Biology and moved to Nanaimo to work for the Dept. of Fisheries. There she met Bob, married in 1951, and moved to Vancouver shortly thereafter. Ruth and Bob raised four children. Ruth and Bob joined Knox United Church in 1956 and it became a central part of their lives. Ruth taught high school biology part time at the Sacred Heart Convent and St. George's and went to UBC earning a M. Ed. in 1978. In her 80th year Ruth published a children's book, Crabby Crab. She donated her profits to Canuck House. Ruth's passion was her family – she was a wonderful wife and mother. She valued family and friends and looked forward to planning and participating in celebrations for birthdays, anniversaries and holidays. She kept in touch, through letters and email, with the many friends and relatives around the world that she and Bob met in their travels. A memorial service will be held on April 27 at 12:30 PM at Knox United Church, 5600 Balaclava, Vancouver, with Reverend Edith Baird officiating.
