FINDLAY, Ronald – beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, suddenly left us on April 15, 2007 in his 88th year. Ronald is predeceased by his parents, Walter & Grace Findlay, 4 brothers & 1 sister and sister-in-law Doris May (2000) and her husband Ernest May (1985) and brother-in-law John Zoochkan (2006). He was employed for some 37 years as a master industrial electrician at Atlas Steels. During the Second World War Ronald bravely served his country heroically overseas for four years in Italy, Holland and the Mediterranean campaigns with the Royal Canadian Artillery. A private family interment has taken place at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, but friends are invited to attend a memorial service in May, with date, time and place to be announced in a future edition of The Tribune. KING: Charles 1922 - 2007 Mr. Charles Alfred King of Taber, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Helena King, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at the age of 85 years. Charlie was born in Carbon, Alberta, the son of Thomas James (TJ) and Sarah King. He received his schooling at Webb school, near Carbon. Following his schooling he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy and served during WW11. He married Helena Taylor on July 19, 1943 in St. John’s, Newfoundland. He received his discharge papers in 1952 and returned to the family homestead. In 1972 they moved to Drumheller where he worked at the Drumheller Federal Penitentiary. They retired to Calgary in 1990 and after Helena passed away in 2005 he moved to Taber to be closer to his only daughter and son-in-law. Charlie and Helena enjoyed dancing and belonged to dance groups while in Calgary. The Anglican Church was an important aspect of Charlie’s life. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking. Charlie is survived by his daughter Gina (George) Fujita; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren Ryan (Lorilei) and their children Kaden and Kole; Danielle (Jason) and their children Cael and Midori; Dennis (Minine) and their children Sara, Tyler and Yasmin; Tammy-Lynn (Keith) and their children Carmalee and Katielee and also by a daughter-in-law Donna. He was predeceased by his wife Helena, two sons Charles and Vincent and a granddaughter Tamara Paige Fujita. The Funeral Service was held at St. Theodore’s Anglican Church Taber on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Wil Stonehill officiating. John (Earl) La Rocque 1927-2007 Saturday April 14th marked the unfortunate passing of Earl LaRocque at the Saint Joseph's Hospital. Earl was a 50 year resident of Elliot Lake having moved from Ottawa in 1956. Earl was an active member of several associations during his life in Elliot Lake including: the Legion, Anglican Church, Gentle Shepherd Church, Boy Scouts, Curling Club, and Denison Recreation Association. Shirley, his loving wife of 53 years passed away in 2005. Shirley was a supportive & loving wife who was a career nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital having worked in the obstetrics ward for most of her career. He is survived by his three children Colleen Peacock of Halifax Nova Scotia, Greg La Rocque of Denver Colorado & Grant La Rocque of Saulte Ste Marie, as well as grandchildren Sarah & Evan Peacock and Matt & Dillon La Rocque.Earl was a gifted singer and sang in several choirs over the years. He spent the last six years of his life at the Hillside Park Retirement Residence and was well taken care of by a caring and loving staff. For their unquestionable and devoted assistance the family is forever grateful. During his time spent at Hillside Park Earl enjoyed a special companionship with Maisie Boyd.Earl was well respected and liked by his peers at Denison Mines and he always made time to tutor, mentor or assist when called upon. He was very passionate about his chosen career as a metallurgist and took great pride in his profession, always striving for improvement. More than anything Earl will be remembered as a kind, gentle, compassionate & caring man and epitomized the word gentleman. He always made time to serve communion to sick or interned church or Legion members at their home. Earl was loved by many and will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him. Service will be held on Thursday April 19th., at 11:00 a.m. at the Gentle Shepherd Church, 3 Ottawa Ave. in Elliot Lake. God bless Earl La Rocque. TOMAINO, FRANK - It is with great sadness the family of Frank announces his passing Saturday April 14, 2007, in Miami, Florida in his 101st year. Beloved husband of the late Irene Tomaino (Rich). Predeceased by daughter Grace Tomaino. Loving father of Rosemarie Falvo (John), Anthony Tomaino (Theresa), Raffalina Iacchetti (widowed), and Irene Daniels (Donald). Also survived by seven grandchildren: John Falvo, Jr. (Lori), Mario Falvo (Rachel), Riccardo Iachetti (Diane), Stefano Iacchetti, Claire, Rachel and Josh Daniels, and four great-grandchildren: Teanna, Christopher, Luca and Marco. Frank was born May 27, 1906 in Italy and immigrated to Pittsburgh PA. in 1934. He worked as a landscaper all his life and retired to Florida in 1971.Funeral Mass will be held in Pittsburgh PA. LAPOINTE, Armand - Peacefully at the Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound on Monday April 16, 2007. In his 71st year, Armand H. Lapointe, loving husband of “Corry“ Lapointe (nee vanTrigt). Loving father of Marc and his wife Val, Rene and his wife Vanessa, and Luc. Loved grandfather of Felix, Saskia and Sylvie. Dear brother of Andre and his wife Yvonne, Maria (Mrs. Johnny Murray), Rita (Mrs. Georges LeBlanc) and Anita Lapointe. Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and his in-laws. Armand taught secondary school over thirty-six years, thirty of those years at O.S.C.V.I. He enjoyed conversation, playing crib and community theatre. VAN EGMOND, Jan. 1916 - 2007. It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our kind, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-father and a special friend to many who passed away peacefully at home on April 16, 2007 at the age of ninety. Still a hard working man until his passing, he will be greatly missed by family and friends. He leaves behind his loving wife Catherine.
