ARONSON, Pauline (nee Amdur). OBITUARY NICOLAAS BASTIAAN. KNOPPERS SR. March 3, 1917 - October 28, 2006 Nick was called home to his Eternal Rest on the morning of October 28, 2006. He is survived by his loving wife and partner, Barthie; his children, Jake and Jocelyne (Montreal, QC), Annelies (the Netherlands), Bastian and Joan (Chicago, IL), Bartha and Daniel (Montreal, QC), Nick and Joanne (Edmonton, AB), and Gary and Laura(State College, PA), and was blessed with nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He will also be sdly missed by a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law, fourteen nieces and nephews and numerous friends. He served in the Dutch Resistance movement, as a Dutch Air force Chaplain, Civil Air Defence Chaplain in the United States, and in various Classes and Synod gatherings of the Christian Reformed Church. He ably served as minister and pastor to three congregations in the Netherlands, four congregations in Canada, and one mission field in the United States. Nicholas was also the founding member of the King's College Foundation for the King's University College Nick will be buried in the Little Mountain Cemetery, in a private ceremony, on Friday, November 3, 2006. BURHOE, Clayton Son of John and Marion Burhoe lived a full life in Woodstock, New Brunswick and died peacefully at the home of his son Robert (Bob), wife Judy in Ottawa on Sunday, October 29, 2006. At home care supplied by Doctor L. Coulombe and the nurses from At-Home Hospice allowed him to spend the remainder of his days on his own terms and die with dignity and in the company of family. Predeceased by his wife Marie (Stone), brother Russell, sister Louise (Duggan), and son Richard (died in infancy). Much loved father of Robert Clayton (Judy) and David-Allen (Maureen). Grandfather of Kathryn, Susan (Ben), Karen (Scott), Darin (Zhamak), Daniel, and Jeffrey (Fabienne). Great grandfather of Luke, Melanie and Jessica. Brother-in-law and good friend of Anne Carr and David Stone of Woodstock. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Duty his watchword, he supported his family as an ice cutter, dairy worker, and a Customs Officer from 1952 to early 1980's. As a Veteran, he remained at the Air Force's request until 1946, although wanting to be home with his family. He built his own home; that included hand-making the concrete blocks in homemade forms during evenings after work. Clayton received his 50 year pin in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (and Encampment), was a Scout Leader, and a Vestry Clerk for St. Mark's Anglican for many years and a volunteer for numerous organizations. CAMPONI, Grace Mildred Dokken Peacefully, with her family by her side, Grace left this world on Monday, October 30, 2006. Pre-deceased by her first-born, Ronald Anthony, her husband Ron and her first grandson, Staecy Camponi Hagen, she leaves to mourn her daughters Lois (Andre Audette) and Linda (Bill Janes), grandsons Dominic, Joel, Michael and Adam, and dear friends in Ottawa and Saskatchewan. Grace was born in Olds, Alberta, on February 20, 1924, then moved to Saskatoon, where she spent her youth and early retirement years. A good "army wife", she viewed every move as a new adventure. At the age of 65, Grace began organ lessons and spent many happy hours at the keyboard over the coming years. In 1997, she moved to Unitarian House in Ottawa, and was an active and enthusiastic participant in the activities there and in the Unitarian congregation. Grace loved life and surrounded herself with beautiful things that she made herself. Her irrepressible personality and quirky sense of humour will be greatly missed by those whose life she touched. In lieu of flowers, donations in Grace's memory to the First Unitarian Congregation, 30 Cleary Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario, K2A 3Z9, would be much appreciated. DUDINSKY, Verna Verna Dudinsky (nee Tower) passed away on October 26, 2006, in Canmore, Alberta. Verna was a devoted wife to Walter; a doting mother to Donna, Marilyn and Gary and a proud and loving grandmother to Emily, Kimberly, Bradley, and Alexander. She lived a life of selfless service to her family and was loved by all who met her. Verna worked tirelessly to look after her home, her husband and her children. When Alzheimers extinguished the traits and personality that defined her, what emerged was a being of pure spirit whose smile and beautiful singing gave joy to those around her. One of seven children, Verna Ida Pearl Tower was born in Rockport, New Brunswick on March 2, 1923. Verna served her country in World War II, a sergeant in the CWAC. She married Walter Dudinsky in 1946. The couple resided in Montreal and Pointe Claire before moving to Ottawa in 1972 where they lived for 23 years. A year after her husband's death, Verna moved to Alberta to be close to her son Gary. A woman of infinite patience, forbearance and love, she will be greatly missed. A memorial service was held for Verna in Canmore, Alberta on October 30, 2006. Interment will take place at Capital Memorial Gardens, Nepean, Ontario on Thursday, November 2, 2006 at 11:00 am. HOPWOOD, Mary Madelene Mary was born December 6, 1919 in Montreal and educated in Trois Rivieres, Shawinigan Falls and Ottawa. She worked for the Royal Canadian Navy in Ottawa during World War II while her husband Clifford served overseas with the Canadian Army. In 1950 she joined the Department of Defence Production and retired in 1975 from the Department of Supply and Services. In retirement she and Clifford divided their time between Colton Lake, near Renfrew and Estero, Florida until Clifford's death in 1999. She is survived by her sister Dorothy, her three sons Robert, Donald and Thomas, along with seven grandchildren, and several great grand children. JAMISON, Ralph Stuart Ralph Stuart Jamison, born October 14, 1922, passed away suddenly and peacefully at Central Care Home Saturday, October 28, 2006. Ralph leaves his second wife Elsie, son Paul, daughter Patricia, grandchildren, April and Jason, and two great-grandchildren, Simone and Taylor. He joins his mother Margaret, his father James and his three brothers, Bob, Arnold and Ed. Ralph was born in Vulcan, Alberta and spent his childhood there and in Calgary, Alberta. He was in the reserves while attending the University of Calgary where he graduated before moving to Los Angeles to pursue his passion for singing. He returned to Canada a year later and entered radio where he worked as a D.J. at CFCN in Calgary and in Kelowna, and CJVI in Victoria before entering Vic High as a teacher in 1963, retiring in 1985 at Oak Bay High School. He was President of the Ams society from 1975/1976 and a soloist in local United Church choirs.
